• What is the best computer for me?

Okay, I have done some more research and I have found that the netbook I was looking at (HP mini 210) HAD a sim card for a mobile phone slot (which would enable 3G on the go) but it had been blocked off and was apparently ultimately a dud WTF!! Does anyone no why this is, and if I could get a netbook with one, as I need this feature. I understand that you can get this in South Korea, which is an option as I have friends out their, but would I be able to convert the Korean software to the UK and would it work? ONE last thing the man in the shop said that it was far better to have Linux then Windows as Windows LOCKS you in and they think everyone on a Windows is stupid so they dumb it down. Thanks again for the masses of very helpful help :D [editline]03:15PM[/editline]
Did you ignore what everyone said? Build your own computer. Cheaper, and you can get better specs.
No i did not ignore everyone I just don't want a desk top. and I am no genius with computers so i would rather get something where all I need to do is some minor upgrades, that's all.
No really, build it yourself, it's not that hard
Okay fine it may not be to hard, but I don't want a desktop. I cant be tied down, that's all. [editline]07:28PM[/editline] So does anyone know of a netbook that DOES have 3G mobile broadband sim slot? Specifically one that would work on t-mobile.
Most mobile 3G modems these days are USB anyway, they'll work on any computer that's not a dinosaur.

Isn't Alienware owned by dell?
ya
Jesus christ, if he needs a netbook no desktop is going to provide that for him.
Too bad dell's laptops are known around the world as the world's worst laptops.
Acer would like to have a word with you...
Asus UL30VT is a good student laptop. It can do SOME gaming too (if you get the model with the G210 chip), but it's not a strong pc for newer games. It's cheap, 13.3 inch and easy to move to classes. I recommend it, yet I don't have one. Also good battery life.
Christ, http://www.amazon.ca/UL30Vt-X1-13-3-Inch-Laptop-Windows-Premium/dp/B002XZLURC/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt Only $800 on Amazon.ca, I may have to buy this if I get a job this summer, perfect laptop for my needs. When I'm at school I can switch to the intel graphics and use it all day with some basic applications, though when I'm on a trip or somewhere when I'm away from my powerful desktop for a long period of time, I can switch to the Nvidia graphics and play games / use Hammer :D [editline]05:18PM[/editline]
Acer would like to have a word with you...
Acer can't come to the phone right now, their stuck in a giant pile of crumbled and cracked plastics and shareware. Can I take a message?

A good laptop is light, small and easy to carry, while not having 3 year old hardware (I don't know why they insists on stuffing laptops with that shit these days) and not being so small the keyboard is uncomfortable or the screen too small. You'll also generally want to stay away from too wide widescreens, they are good in large format but for a laptop it makes little sense. 16:10 minimum, squarer is better. Long battery life and light software is a good idea too. You want it to be something you want to take with you, don't get laptops with huge power adapters, bring a backup battery or get a small light adapter, you don't want shit bogging you down. As I said, a laptop is the most useful when you want to carry it around with you. And can easily do so.
Don't get a gaming laptop. Ever. Big waste of money.
I've had a gaming laptop now for quite a while and couldn't be happier :raise: I guess it's just personal opinion though.
