I'm still kinda horrid with the shell so i guess my question is really to simple to be found on google.
On monday i rebooted my RPS, it locked up, the providers error dedection sprung in and booted it into "rescue mode" where it boots from the network and provides me with a HTML interface to do checks and stuff. After days of trying to get it to work and searching for an error i found absolutely nothing and decided to call tech support, they told me something might be wrong in my network configuration since the fail-over IP doesn't work either. The guy told me to have a look at /etc/network/interfaces.
The problem now is that since the system is booted on the network i'll have to find a way to actually access /dev/sda1 which is the original boot HD. I think i succeeded to mount it, at least "mount" gave me this at the end:
/dev/sda1 on /mountsda1 type ext3 (rw,relatime,errors=continue,data=writeback)
I guess that means it's mounted but how the crap do i access the files on it?

And you have tried to go to the mount directory (/mountsda1)?
Yes, it's empty.
Back to W7, couldn't stand the glitched ubuntu anymore, sorry.
Nevermind guys, i just remounted it a thousand times and it works now. Now, what's wrong here? I suspect the auto lo at the end but i really don't know shit.
# This file describes the network interfaces available on your system
# and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).
# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
#eth0 is enabled during initrd
auto eth0:0
iface eth0:0 inet static
address ***.***.***.190
netmask 255.255.255.255
auto lo

Ubuntu is bad use arch
hey what's a good linux compatible wireless card because my wireless card was hindering from me completing my arch install last time
Ubuntu is bad use arch
Okay, a checklist:
* Must run WoW
* Has bass (?)
* No sound bugs
* Can play sound on multiple programs at the same time
I'm not really new to *nix, but i'm not so good at it.

Most of your sound issues are probably from PulseAudio, which Arch (as Buttsex suggested) doesn't use.
PulseAudio has caused so many problems.
So if i wanted to install it, can i just overwrite my ubuntu partition with it with no problems?

Yep.

Wow runs semi-decent in Wine. It's main problem is low-quality audio (sounds like you're in a tin can), and it has some performance issues with some builds of Wine. Just make sure you enable the OpenGL renderer in your wtf files.
The audio issues are either PulseAudio, or the driver for your sound card. I think it's more likely PulseAudio. Do you have a common sound card like an emu10k1?
"Can play sound on multiple programs" sounds like you have bad experience with OSS. OSS uses some device nodes and occasionally one program will hog them and not let anyone else touch the sound card. OSS has been (effectively) deprecated for a long time, so it shouldn't be an issue with modern software.
WoW runs with no problems for me under ubuntu.
Sound card: VIA (hda_intel) VT1708S
My linux mint had a derp moment.
I was compressing a lot of files with nautilus into a tar.bz2 file.
It took me too long so I cancelled it.
Both my CPU's stayed on 100% for at least five minutes after that. The temperature was like 92 degrees Centigrade and my laptop was horribly slow.
I think I'm going to move to Fedora 13, see what that's like.
I can go to Arch, but that just takes too much of my spare time to set up and maintain.
Anyone know where I can get a python 2.7 rpm or is there a yum repo that contains it?
This is annoying me a tad, I'm trying to convert some .cue files to iso files but nothing really seems like it's working.
Only .cue no .bins.

.cues have no files.
.bins have all the files.
.cue files just specify which things is where for a precise burn to disc.

Not as much time as you waste on this forum. Set it up in an 45 mins and leave it. No maintenance required.
yeah Arch is a pretty maintenance-free distro
What the fuck

Ubuntu killed itself
did you do a proper install or wubi?
did you do a proper install or wubi?
It's a proper install through a CD.

I do have another distro (arch) burned, so I think I might as well go to that because looking at the support forums for Ubuntu it's gonna be a pain in the ass to fix without formatting.
Im currently using fedora, should i keep this or get another distro?
Im currently using fedora, should i keep this or get another distro?
What have you already tried? If you haven't used arch yet I highly recommend it.
.cues have no files.

Yes, I just realized that I'm going the wrong way with this, it's a flac file and a .cue file for it and I want to get the flac into septate songs.
Probably uses a different method than what I have been looking at.
Im currently using fedora, should i keep this or get another distro?
I've been using fedora since fedora 9, and I love it, but I've been thinking the same question, and I plan on trying out arch.
iirc linus uses fedora too, so you're alright there
I have come across an old computer that I will be using for Linux, I did a little of research and found that Ubuntu is best for beginners? So I'm currently downloading that right now. I just need to wait for my computer to work again and I'll put Ubuntu on it straight away.
However, I do not understand this bit. Do I have to install Ubuntu on top of Windows (XP) or do I have to format and put in the disk for a fresh install?
