I use GNash for flash in chromium (64 bits. It doesn't always work perfectly, but it's better than adobe's shit.
Hey guys, a new version of GNOME was released a few days ago (version 2.32?), yet I don't see it when I update arch. What about it?
I have a boxed version of Ubuntu 8.04 and I'm wondering what to do with the disc. I'm thinking of either:
a) replacing it
b) overwriting the .iso file to the current Ubuntu LTS version
Any way to do option "b"?
Unless it's a CD-RW, no you can't.
I just use a USB drive for any OS installs I do now. Windows or Linux.
http://www.archlinux.org/packages/testing/x86_64/gnome-desktop/
That's 2.32.0-1
why doesn't pacman -Syyu update gnome to that version?
It seems to be in the repositories?
edit: oh it's in testing stage.

Any idea what's causing this?
The Chrome thingy doesn't seem to happen to anything else, but that umm, floaty menu thing seems to happen a lot, which is obviously gnome.
I'm on 2.30.2
Sure looks like a display issue.
Are you sure you have the correct drivers installed? (it's the only thing I can think of)

Check the logs, there might be a clue in there.
Good point, Also look what I made :3:

Let me clean up the code a bit and I'll release and rehost it.
Why is the 'le' in Google in blue?
[editline]05:47PM[/editline]
I can understand the other ones because they're multiple words, but it doesn't look good for Google
I dunno, It looked odd when 'Google' was all white.
You can change it when it's released if you wish.
Setting up arch linux on my netbook, what window managers do you guys use? I want to go off the beaten path here.
Openbox

http://bbrks.me/as/
http://bbrks.me/as/archstart.tar.gz
Feel free to use whichever, I personally use a localhost version because it's quicker, but you'll need a http server running.
I am having a issue with Ubuntu 10.10 where none of my window borders show in gnome, I am running it on a Hp Mini 211 netbook and have been using 10.04 before hand. I used update-manager -d to upgrade the system.

What all do I have to do to get PulseAudio working with ALSA on my minimal Ubuntu install?
Just realised that the ArchForum search won't work..
Eh, not really a way to fix that :/

funny, i tried it on my cellphone through a 3g connection with opera mobile and it worked
rechecking now
rechecked, worked for me
all i can guess is that it's a nameserver problem somewhere down the line, does http://86.60.173.186/archstart/ work

Holy shit.
Yay, the latest GNOME is in it :D
I'm so surprised so many packages have x86_64 in the suffix of the name. Most (if not all) packages are compiled in 64 bit! So much better than Windows!
Just updated today too, 137 packages :D

Just use pacman -Syu
then press N when it asks you to upgrade.

You can't keep the chat to general Linux. Any talk/questions about other distributions are welcome too. Arch just happens to be the most popular distribution in this section of facepunch.
I'm building a server and plan to use it as a web server to run PHP scripts etc. Is their a specific distro that is most suitable for this kind of thing? I've used Fedora 13 and was hoping to try a new distro out thinking of Debian or Arch
