you don't need an strap, yeah same process they are easier to install heatsinks

Is it hard to unlock the fourth core?
No, not really. The problem with unlocking the fourth core is that a third of the time it just plain doesn't work, and half the time you end up with an extremely unstable system. The remaining sixth is relatively low chance that it does work perfectly.
