Definitely out my price range then :(
If you find you really can't sell them then i'd give you $100 for them :L
Selling these for less than 300 would not be worth it considering I spent 600 on each of them. I'll just hold onto them if I can't get 50% of what I paid.
Maybe in a month I'll make a post here looking to sell them.
No info regarding HDMI.
Damn it AMD, even Intel's stock drivers has overtaken you on the HDMI-out features! :argh:
Compared to the 6970, 40% average is a decent jump. BF3 performance has a substantial leap too. Only a little bit quicker than the 580 in that game, but Nvidia had a large lead previously.
Overall I'm not entirely impressed completely, but definitely not disappointed. A solid 50% increase over the 6970 is what I expected, but this ain't so bad.
Price I don't agree with though. $450 should have been the MSRP. Though I think they will drop the price once Nvidia releases the Kepler. It will be probably be like last round, with Nvidia having the fastest single card, but more expensive and power hungry.
Fuck. I can see it's going to be soon when I start to feel that I'm outdated even with my 6850.

It will be outdated sure, but I'm content with my 6850 for now. Once it starts struggling at running games, I'll consider an upgrade.

This is really only worth the upgrade if you still have a 2xx or a 4xxx card, otherwise it's cheaper to SLI/CFX
-snip- its in direct competition with that card I'm dumb.
My 6950 deserves a lynching.
I will wait until the 7970 proves it self then I will upgrade. Really should have been a little less at the price point though I really do not mind.
I thought AMD was the cheap shit, if AMD is pricing this high I don't even want to imagine the cost of nvidia's new stuff
Can someone explain why only the high end models of a new generation of GPUs come out first?
Can someone explain why only the high end models of a new generation of GPUs come out first?
to show off
Intel pulls the same crap with AMD's CPU market. AMD's turn on the GPU market.

Nah, people with 5*** cards will want to upgrade as well. As far as I remember, the 5770 is one of the most used cards on Steam, and it was hugely popular. It's starting to get outdated now, though. My rule of thumb is to upgrade every second generation, and I don't really find that excessive. Sure, I could have held on to my 4830, but it was really starting to get behind the curve with the 6*** series.

Yah I can definitely see people with 5830s and below taking a look at the 6xxx cards. Though I still can't see HD 5850, 5870 and 5970 owners rushing out to buy new cards.

Competition - prices will probably drop a bit.

Yeah maybe not rushing, but I think we'll see people upgrading to the new series when the rest of the cards are released. Prices will drop, the mainstream 7*** (probably the 7770) will have the same performance as the 5850 or thereabouts, and I'm pretty sure a 7870, and over will look mighty appealing if they reside at the ~240$ price point.
The 7870 or even 7950 would be a great replacement for my 4870.
Power consumption seems to be around 6850. Would make a great upgrade.

7850 would be fine too.
My poor 6950 :(
Man I wish I had the kind of income to build a whole new machine every 2 years. Ah the life as a poor college student.

Make money online.

I really need to upgrade soon.

The 6950 is a great card, what are you onto about?
Once a new card comes out it doesn't mean the end of the world for your high-end previous generation card...
I mean, for some reason my laptop with a GTX 460M (GTS 250 equivalent) is still managing to get ~30 fps in high settings on most games without AA.

Maybe the tables will turn for once :v:
When is Kepler coming out anyway?
When is Kepler coming out anyway?
Last time I heard, in about 4-5 months.
My next GPU will probably be an ATI, as I want triple screen, and cant have a second 570GTX in my case.
fuck nVidia's 2 screens/GPU!
So, how is stating a FACT dumb?
Some older ATI's had 6 screens/gpu, and nVidia never had over 2 for single core card.
There are rumors of Kepler being released in January/February, but only the low-end and possibly mid-range. TSMC is probably suffering from yield problems with high-end Kepler chips, possibly due to Kepler being a bigger, more power hungry chip than Tahiti, like the previous 2 rounds. I'm guessing.
There's some other rumors of mid-range Kepler chips being on par with the 580, so I wouldn't be surprised if the high-end is 40% faster. I'd take that with a grain of salt though.

Your username is so fitting.

What?
Radeon 6000 series+ can have 12 million pixels per card while Nvidia still has 2560x1600 per card or what it was.
