Reading this thread it appears everyone is using some sort of compressed air. Am I stupid for using a vacuum cleaner? I have a very expensive water vacuum cleaner and it does the job well. Am I doing it wrong?
yes vacuums make static, static + computer bits = bad things can happen
yes vacuums make static, static + computer bits = bad things can happen
I've never damaged anything with static and I work with sensitive components all the time, just don't walk about in a plastic bag and you'll be fine.
I'm stuck using lung power. Yeah yeah it'll fuck up my lungs blah blah I know, but I can't really go get a can of compressed air or anything.

Have a couple of powerful compressors at my disposal, but the vacuum cleaner is far more effective at dust removal without just filling the room with even more dust.

I'd recommend you tape up all the fans except for one, put the vaccum on that one fan, then blow out the inside, the fan will pull all the dust into the vaccum. I did that once.

It's cheaper in the long run to just buy an air compressor. Canned air doesn't last long, creates nasty fumes and really doesn't blow hard enough to move any significant amount of dust. I got a free standup shop air compressor (normally retails about $300) and it works wonders. In addition to being able to clean out computers, I can also air up the tires, use an impact gun, etc.

The amount of shit I found there (Somehow I found a piece of chocolate stuck on the CPU sink( no idea how it got there the case was always closed)) but I cleaned it up really fast with the vacuum. We bought this damn vacuum for about 2500 euros 6 years ago and it's working perfectly. And no sign of static, I've been cleaning my computers this way forever.

Sounds like you got scammed, Ajacks. At least the vacuum seems good though. [editline]15th February 2013[/editline] er not Ajacks, the guy who bought the vacuum it's 3 AM and I'm about to go to bed I can be bad at reading right now

You get the electric spinning wheely thingy that rapes everything in it's path, you get a water canister with a special attachment to steam off stuff from the floor, you get a special air refresher, you even get some dishes and cooking pots. They came to our house and did a demonstration. Cleaned the worst stuff they could find and cleaned the water inside of my toilet...
Sounds like Kirby.
It has "Rainbow" on top of it and on the side E-Series. This one, guess mine was more expensive because I got it ages ago and it came with a lot of features.
Seems a bit overpriced for a vacuum cleaner...
Post Your Vacuum Thread V1, show off your parents stuff edition.
Pepper;39552332']Bloody hell you're an idiot. You're lucky it didn't go back into the can and make it explode.
Cans like this can't explode, because there's no air to sustain that explosion inside the can. (It might sound stupid, but cans of compressed air contain fluorcarbons, which aren't flammable)
