Depends how you interpret "ahead".

Also, just to annoy you.
Google's got a loooooooooooooong way to go if they wanna catch up with Windows.
They aren't trying to make something like windows. They are making a simple lightweight netbook OS that only does simple stuff.
Stop being stupid.
If that's legit, I'll stick with Windows.
It's not legit. If you honestly think that, you're an idiot.

This.
It looks horrible. I want a OS, not a ugly blue browser.
If it was Java-powered, I'd be all over it. But it looks fake and severely lacking in OS qualities and just looks like a browser.
I know this is fake, though the concept of a quick booting OS for netbooks is a great idea, I have tried out the Presto OS (Basically optimized Linux with a great interface) and I would LOVE to see something like that from Google to run alongside XP on my netbook.

You should try Moblin V2.
It was originally made by Intel, then they gave it to The Linux Foundation.
I've heard it's crazy fast.

Honestly, do you guys even have the slightest idea what Google Chrome OS is? It's not meant to be a full-fledged OS like Windows, Linux, or Mac OS.
We're designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds. The user interface is minimal to stay out of your way, and most of the user experience takes place on the web.
That's why it's called Google Chrome OS. The entire OS is basically just an internet browser. Comparing it to Windows is idiotic.
I'm sure these are fake.

Chrome could also be easily just a name for a software family. Like Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Explorer, etc.

They could still make it like a normal OS, And include other Google stuff.
But mostly browser.

Google's stuff is pretty much all on the internet.
Except Google desktop and Picasa, but nobody wants those.
Proof it's fake:
Chrome OS is based on the Linux kernel which uses forward slashes for it's file system.
I know these shots are fake, but when the OS source code is released, you don't think garry is gonna make the official Facepunch OS Chrome?
