Of course not. 7 isn't the slightest bit like Vista. See XP was great, but Vista was just horrible! Even though 7 is pretty much the exact same OS just a little bit better, it is completely new! It will be amazing.
/sarcasm if you anyone couldn't tell.
Oh, and Aero turns itself off when games are on.
Only fullscreen games / programs though.
You can turn it off yourself too, if you want.

The DX10? Not worth it if you ask me..
XP is going to become unsupported soon. Also, Vista is getting DX 11.

Yup. Aero and UAC. If he looked into it, he would know how to disable them. Nothing is wrong with Vista.
I've got win7 and I don't recommend it for gaming.
- Messages in ventrilo lag and "pile up".
- Fallout 3 seems to have several compability issues with win7. (it runs slower, the addons won't work.)
- Nvidia drivers sure as hell doesn't work properly, especially not their new fancy "win7 driver".
- Defcon doesn't work properly, runs slow as FUCK.
- None of the old games that worked in Xp works in win7, the compability modes are pretty much worthless. (games such as Monkey island 3 , Grim Fandango or worms 2. I know they're old but if microsoft includes compability modes they ought to work, right?)
- Playing Age of empires 1/2 causes crazy CTD-errors.
- Logitech drivers doesn't seem to work.
EDIT: Several of the major companies producing hardware haven't even thought of releaseing new Win7 compatible drivers..
What's wrong? Oh I get it, a guy bashes Nvidia and Vista and hes a troll? Pathetic.
Vista DOES hog your RAM. Most games require you to have 2GB of RAM if you have Vista, 1GB if you got XP. Of course, this is because of the new Aero and what not, but you can easily download a Vista theme for XP..
The DX10? Not worth it if you ask me..
Vista is a ram whore, i know.
But it's caching things on startup and when you launch an app that uses lots or ram Vista will dump tonnes of bloat
It doesn't cache on startup. It caches after it started.

No it doesnt. It uses the idle shit to make your computer run better.
Yes..?
And so is Vista.
Not really, almost half my games never worked on Vista, no matter what I did
(That half of my games being older than Vista)
Pretty much every game that works on XP works on Vista/7 too.

I have googled the problems and guess what I found? Threads filled to the brim with people having the same problems, and NO SOLUTIONS.
And don't whine about the games I play, I didn't ask for your opinion on them.
Not really, almost half my games never worked on Vista, no matter what I did

Then you're doing it wrong. List some games that didn't work.

You can find anything on Google. But the large majority, which includes me, have no trouble at all playing any games on Vista/7.

Also what the fuck do you mean by "you're doing it wrong"? There aren't that many ways to start a game you know.
Just because you don't have the problem doesn't mean the problem doesn't exist.
Just list the games that don't work. I've never run into a game that didn't work on my Vista, so I'm curious. What games don't work for you?
Your Nvidia problem is the cause of overheating. I had this problem too when I went over to Vista Ultimate from Vista Home.
But mine was so old that I needed to upgrade it anyways. But you should manually setup your fan speed to cool it down.

I already listed mine on the first page.
The OP is an idiot

That's exactly what it means. I got a game to work fine on Vista, but somebody else couldn't. Well, the game definitely works on Vista, so he's not doing something right.
You can buy 1gb of ram for like $20, have a good time with an outdated and shitty OS.
I have never had a problem with any reasonably "new" game (2000+) running on Vista. You're doing something wrong and are probably a moron.

Exactly.
When something doesn't work for you but works for someone else on the same OS then you've definitely done something wrong.
And it's usually extremely simple, just hard to figure out at times. Google is a big fucking friend.
Hell, simple things such as doing compatibility mode and running as administrator often solve post problems.

I guess I must be double clicking the icon wrong, thanks for all the help guise!!
Reinstall Vista, TURN UAC OFF, and always be administrator. I'm sure 50% of games wont run on Vista on a fresh install. Vista sucks on a fresh install. Spend 10 or 20 minutes tweaking it to your liking (I always did this on XP, too) and you have a great OS.
the only game i couldn't run on vista was RCT1 (decided to fail after copying files half way)
What games don't work on Vista? You only posted about GTA IV (definitely works on Vista) in the OP.
Edit:
Found them, thanks for making me read this thread again. :argh:
I don't have Worms 2, but I have Worms Armageddon and it works on Vista.
Defcon works too.
I just opened a few windows and programs and your theory of vista hogging ram is bullshit. This is with 4GB of ram on a 32-bit system (so 3GB RAM)
