I use VLC for movies, but what would be the difference between Winamp and VLC as music player (and itunes)? The only difference I see is the UI, I like the UI itunes/winamp more than VLC, but it doesn't really matter a lot for me.
Peazip is simply the best compression software. It supports a wide range of formats, and has shell integration if you really want it. Nice interface, too. It's under LGLP.
Peazip is good for opening and compressing its own files, but it failed to open a lot of archives for me when I used it.
Proud 7-zip user for a long time.
Proud 7-zip user for a long time.
Me too, I tried Peazip briefly but I didn't like how it took a dump on my context menu. 7-zip puts its entries in a nice submenu. Edit: oh cool, Peazip does the same now. I think I'll try it out again.

add openoffice, when my MS office expired it was a fucking savior
Are you being sarcastic or do you actually believe something like that AOL owns Nullsoft but the fact they're a separate development team should nullify worries that AOL is shitting it up past making them add their dumb AOL radio as one of the options in the library.
I was being somewhat sarcastic... I saw AOL on winamps site and instinctively boycotted it. Personally I find winamp too cumbersome to use. I use media player classic to play my massive collection of 0 songs. [editline]06:25PM[/editline]
add openoffice, when my MS office expired it was a fucking savior
open office is the shit I do all my english with it.
I've used it too long to switch to anything else haven't found a player past WMP or Winamp that dynamically searches my music library for updates That and there's limited support for chiptune files in other players and I really can't find MP3s of shit like Gradius very easily, since everyone and their mother is afraid of getting sued for having gigs worth of 10 year old game music on their websites or the game is too obscure for anyone to give enough of a shit to convert them. Plus they save space. One entire pack of minigsfs for a game takes up like 8-16 MB. If all of the shit I had in chiptune format got converted to MP3, it'd probably add an extra 8 gigs to my collection alone (let alone if I converted them to something like FLAC, where each file takes up 30 MB more or less.)
I like itunes the most cause it's super easy to manage playlists.

I'll put my favorites here (might add more later): Piriforms CCleaner, originally CrapCleaner is a program that pretty much makes windows run faster by removing temporary internet files and useless registry entries. Worth getting.
CCleaner is a freeware PC optimization tool. It combines a system cleaner that removes unused and temporary files from your system and also a fully featured registry cleaner! CCleaner allows Windows to run faster, more efficiently and gives you more hard disk space. The best part is that it's Small, Fast and Free!
Get it here: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Piriforms Defraggler is a deframentation tool that I personally prefer to the one provided with windows.
Defragment exactly what you want Most defrag tools only allow you to defrag an entire drive. Defraggler lets you specify one or more files, folders, or the whole drive to defragment. Safe and Secure When Defraggler reads or writes a file, it uses the exact same techniques that Windows uses. Using Defraggler is just as safe for your files as using Windows. Small and lightweight Defraggler's tough on your files – and light on your system. Interactive drive map At a glance, you can see how fragmented your hard drive is. Defraggler's drive map shows you blocks that are empty, not fragmented, or needing defragmentation. Quick Defrag Give your hard drive a quick touch-up with Quick Defrag. Defragment free space Organizes empty disk space to further prevent fragmentation. Scheduled defragmentation Defragment while you sleep - and wake up with a faster PC. Set Defraggler to run daily, weekly or monthly. Full Windows OS and Multi-lingual support No matter what your native tongue is, Defraggler speaks your language. It currently supports 37 all major languages.
Get it here: http://www.piriform.com/defraggler/download/standard
I would recommend Gom player. Really awesome, userfriendly mediaplayer. I only use it for movies/videos, but I don't know if it plays music (I don't think so). It's very stable, plays tons of different file types, and unlike VLC, the interface is nice to look at. It has some easy to remember, useful keyboard shortcuts too. It boots instantly and is overall just the best mediaplayer I know of.
