I've done 8 hour gaming sessions with my MX greens no problem
Someone needs to make giant switches utilizing leaf spring suspension, so you need several thousand pounds of actuation force
Anyone any good for programming boards, that offer UK layout?
These look awesome, but they only come in MX Clear in UK layout, and I'm used to blues.

When you say "programming boards" do you mean "good for programming" or "good programmablity"?
Hey, lads. I was wondering if you could recommend some fairly inexpensive keyboards for a guy like me. I'm basically just looking for something that is practical, I don't need any fancy lights (though it is a nice bonus), macro buttons, or anything of the sorts.
I've looked around a bit myself, but I can't really find anything that I like. I know it's asking a lot, but I'm trying to stay at or below €80. I don't have the biggest budget in the world.

The Ducky Zero sounds up your alley.

Good for programming.
I'll be going to the Boston meet up in July. Anyone else local in that area?

Nice looking board but I'd rather get a TX-CP
Found this but the group buy ended two hours ago.....

Just finished changing all the blue LEDs in my K70 to white ones since some of them died a while back. I even replaced the one that feeds the light guide for the media keys, and I've got some reverse mount SMD LEDs for the brightness/winlock/etc buttons on the way. Haven't seen anyone else go that far :v:
Probably would have just bought a WASD code but I can't bear to part with that volume roller.

Does that model have a plate in it?
Good for programming.
Any keyboard is good for programming really, I'd take a look at filco majestouch 2. Imo it's a lot more solid than the wasd code, and you can get them for 120 GBP from keyboardco.com. To be honest, I've been disappointed with all wasd keyboards I've tried so far, and the price you have to pay to get one of those to europe is way more than what it's worth. A friend of mine paid close to 300 euros (VAT and shipping) for the code that's only really worth 150 face value. Unless you're churning out code at 100 wpm, I think any keyboard works for programming. I bring my 47 key vortex core to the office sometimes for programming and that works well too, you get used to all the modifier/function key jockeying.
Does that model have a plate in it?
nope, barely any cherry boards do
Good for programming.
As Anglor said, any mech board is good for programming really. But I would say that 60%, TKL or 65% and split boards are more suited to programming.
That's just my opinion though.
I want a keyboard like my k70 rgb but I want one with cherry mx clears. I don't want to give up the red-to-orange gradient I got going on.
if you have soldering skills, you can just solder on some mx clears, or if the plate allows it, just take off the tops of the switches and swap the sliders with mx clear sliders and springs
[editline]13th June 2017[/editline]
actually im dumb you'd have to remove the LEDs to swap anything :v:

The ducky shine comes in clears iirc

Don't most RGB keyboards use SMD LEDs mounted under the switch?
Don't most RGB keyboards use SMD LEDs mounted under the switch?
most of them do, yeah, not sure about the k70 tho
[editline]13th June 2017[/editline]
oh, the k70 uses the specialized rgb switches, with the led inside of the switch, right? so you should be able to desolder, take the switch apart and swap the slider and spring
i'm no expert tho
Is mechanicalkeyboards.com the only real place to get a Ducky One at a decent price?

Amazon and mechkeys are the only place I regularly see them
[editline]16th June 2017[/editline]
Also my parts should be shipping soon. I really need to decide on keycaps.

Originatives carbon OEM is solid. Or an enjoyPBT set?
K70 finally gave up the ghost and is doing random key presses everywhere :(
Oh shit, Varmilo's UK distributor finally got set up.

Are Razer keyboards still considered trash-tier? Also, is the CM Storm Quickfire XT any good? I'm looking for my first mechanical keyboard.

Only the Ornata and other switch bastardizations are truly trash tier. The razed greens and oranges are meh at best, but it's still a solid keyboard. If yours has cherry switches then it's okay ish.
CM Storms are okay too. If you're looking for something within a specific price range then give us a budget to work with.
