Got my deck, its got some buttery smooth mx blacks in it

it has a date stamp of '04 which makes sense for how ugly this thing is
Basically every keyset supports 75% these days, even with that funky bottom row.

my dude the ugly font is part of it, also the bottom is diamond plate btw

look at this shit
recently bought a Logitech G810 Orion Spectrum for my birthday a few weeks back and man mechanical keyboards are pretty nifty.
im not crazy about the leds but the volume slider and pause/play buttons on the keyboard itself is neat.
To be honest gateron have better tooling than cherry these days. Kailh also do cool stuff like click bars and the box switches.
Retooled Cherry meets Gateron's level of smoothness, I'm typing on silent blacks right now and they're mint.
knock off mechanical switches aren't bad, you can easily get a mechanical keyboard that's priced the same as a "semi-mechanical"
Yeah I just ordered another Aukey just like mine since I like their knockoff Blues better than the real thing.
I bought a switch tester for my BF to both serve as a way to test switches and to act as a fidget cube.
However, he's also expressed interest at those mecha-membrane/"mechanical feel" keyboards. Does anyone have any experience with those?
I dislike them a lot myself, but if they're what he likes, they're very cheap. Difficult to clean though and they degrade a lot faster.
Lmao just sold my G910 Logi keyboard
plasticy as hell
never buy RomerG shit
I had a g810 for a bit and found it ok but the USB plug was faulty so after a while it just kept powering off and on and I returned it.
Now I've got a CM Storm Quickfire Rapid TKL with Cherry MX Blacks

this keyboard looks so god damn sexy
been wanting an ergodox or a split keyboard for a while now for ergonomic reasons. but I just haven't got the money atm :v:

That's cool as shit
I probably wouldn't buy it myself but it looks awesome.
Ooh, with the way I sprawl out on the bed to compute, a split keyboard like that could actually be really comfortable. I'd prefer is the split half was wireless, or at least had a longer cable, though.

Aww, that sounds like a comfortable thing to do. I prefer being Sat at a desk where my wrists can be lifted more easily, but it's a cool thought of going lazy mode lol

I'd prefer a desk too but there literally isn't enough room where I live to have a desk so the bed must do, and sitting up on the bed is agonizing so I lay down, sprawl out, zoom in on Chrome and put the keyboard on my belly.

That's cute.
I've never had a mechanical keyboard before, so I don't really know anything about 'em. At most, I've used mech keyboards owned by other people for very short periods of time. Does anyone know of any relatively cheap keyboards with Cherry MX clear or brown switches? Those, or some similar switches that are about as quiet. I've heard the way louder switches sound and I find that they kinda bug my ears, it feels like my eardrums are being punched or flicked. I'd prefer a numpadless keyboard but fullsize would be alright too.

Especially with how badly they've been cocking up a lot of mechanical keyboard drops recently.
Sending some people their orders twice then shrugging and refunding everyone else who couldn't get the products they paid for because Massdrop fucked up.
Sending a bunch of Ergodox Infinity buyers two of the same hand for the PCBs instead of one of each, then when sending out replacement PCBs to those affected, fucking up again so there are now people out there with three of the same hand.
Putting themselves as the people required to pay customs fees on paperwork for international packages then refusing to pay those fees and not contacting the people involved, resulting in packages being destroyed.
I'm finding it harder and harder to justify continuing to give Massdrop my business when they keep repeatedly fucking up and screwing their consumer base.
EDIT: Seems I missed a post, the high score for wrong Ergodox hands is now up to FOUR.

One guy, patiently waiting for support to get their ass in gear and send him a left hand for over 2 months.
Massdrop customer support has always been absolutely terrible, that's well known isn't it?
Plus god forbid you buy one of their Massdrop X <Company> products. Like how do you think they manage to sell duplicate products 20% cheaper? It's sure as hell not by making them better quality.
I gave up on Massdrop after having my (first) 2 orders from them fail within <1 month, and them flat out refusing to replace them.
i never understood the appeal of get like $10-$15 off of something but you have to wait months to get it.

Eh if it isn't something I need right away I will use mass drop to save a few bucks.
It appears that the right windows key on my Filco has been broken some some amount of time. Only even found out after cleaning it and testing all the keys :v:.
anyone like this vortex core?
the pok3r is amazing tbh but if I replace I'm so going smaller

get a gherkin
or learn steno on a macropad and go fully meta
get a gherkin

does not look very useful to type on
also those both look decent, thought they seem a bit too lacking in buttons
that and Vortex core does have programmability
[editline]29th October 2017[/editline]
macro pads though
I so will need one if I ever get a non-programmable, I just wish I knew where I could get good ones
having fn+t for [t][/t] and is insanely useful
I have the core with clears, love it. Soon vortex is releasing their MPC tool enabling full programmability

I think there's a group buy for a 3x5 macropad on gh at the moment. Otherwise people usually handwire them.

I have a 50% PCB laying around from a small GB earlier this year. Hand signed #1 / 5 :v:
I should probably get to building it sometime this decade.
I bought a Qisan keyboard because it was mechanical and cheap it was this one but with blue switches:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Keyboard-Mechanical-Backlit-68-Keys-Qisan/dp/B018NJ4FIC
It cost me £32, is that a good price. I have never heard of the brand before but it actually looks quite nice, I already have a Ducky 5 but I thought this might be a steal, unsure though. (It's brand new.)

They've got Outemu blues in em. Not a bad startup/backup board.

build your own 40%
The whole appeal is being able to program it exactly how you want and you can't do that with a core
I would recommend a jd40 or if you want to get weird with it build a planck
i love both of these style of boards and have built quite a few of each of them, they are a blast to use
EDIT:
1up keyboards has jd40 kits that are p nice
Got my K-Type today. I'll be honest, I kind forgot I even bought the thing and then also remembered all the drama with the fucking Halo switches. Oh well, got mine.
The key caps they decided to use are kinda weird. They have this rough texture on them that's almost like really, really low grit sandpaper, which sounds awful but it's not irritating, just a detail to notice. They're fine otherwise, except they decided to use the Vortex-style caps lock text which is an arrow pointing DOWN for some reason to represent letters getting bigger. idfk.
I got the Halo Clear switches with it which, between Clear and True, were the heavier tactile force but lower bottom out force keys. They feel so smooth it's honestly hard to tell if they're actually tactile or not, which is weird. Maybe it's because they're not clicky, less to notice once you hit the actuation point since they're just tactile switches ala MX Clear. [del]I'd need more time to find out if I am going to keep them on the board (hot swappable, woo!) but I guess I'll find out later tonight when I play games on this thing[/del] (and one reason why this post is so long). Actually I think I'm going to replace these ASAP because I find them a little heavy already. These are also the loudest switches I've used in a while, very solid *thunk* sounding on bottom out, but I've also been using a Novatouch for months now so anything will be loud compared to that thing.
The lighting on it is cool but not programmable yet and I'm also just going to turn it off so whatever. Maaaybe once it's programmable I'll keep light on the bottom half of the case for kicks but never on the keys.
That's about it.
[editline]2nd November 2017[/editline]
Zeal switch force is shown by bottom out, right? Not by actuation?
