im looking for a cheap wired mech keyboard for aroun 40~60 usd
If you look a few posts up you'll see my review of the Aukey that Steven posted. Or I'll just paste it here again for convenience
Review: Aukey KM-G6 104-key mechanical keyboard [t]https://i.imgur.com/laciKIV.jpg[/t] I got this keyboard for $30 on sale. I was only after a nice MX Blue-like typing feel with backlit keys. I didn't really care that the backlight was rainbow LEDs and had all sorts of patterns. It was just the cheapest full-size mechanical keyboard available. I was very pleasantly surprised by the build quality. I was expecting a cheap plasticy piece of junk barely more stable than a laptop keyboard, but this thing has a very solid metal frame. I can easily type on it all day without it feeling flimsy at all. Key layout is perfectly normal, nothing funky or weird. The Fn keys are reasonably well laid out. I like that volume is on the f9-f11 block, closest to the Fn key itself, so one-handed volume changes are simple and easy. F5-F8 holds the media playback keys, while F1-F4 is generic application launches. Nifty features are a Windows Key lock (Fn+Windows), and a total keyboard lock (Fn+F12), which can come in handy if you're stepping away from the keyboard for a while, or if you plan on putting something on the keyboard for whatever reason. The lighting system is far more amusing than I thought it would be. Fn+Insert toggles the different modes, which include breathing and wave motion modes, as well as on or off. Additionally, it has a couple of reactive modes, which can be either a "breadcrumbs" mode where each key you press lights up for a second or so before fading out, and a "ripple" mode, where each keypress sends a wave across the whole keyboard. It's good fun. There's also some "gaming" backlight modes, which only light certain keys based on games. There's one for Counter Strike, LOL, and DOTA, for example. I rather like the Outemu Blue switches, which are clones of the Cherry MX Blue, of course. They're a little bit stiffer and somewhat louder than the genuine article, but I find the feel really pleasing. I can type on this for hours without feeling fatigued, though the noise can get a bit much sometimes. Overall Score: 9/10. For the price, you can't beat it. Way better value than my Blackwidow Ultimate 2016. Pros: 1: Super solid construction 2: Excellent key feel 3: Amusing backlight will entertain for minutes at a time 4: Price Cons: 1: No Macro functions 2: Fn key combos aren't backlit. 3: No separate LED for the Windows Lock or Keyboard Lock combos despite being doubleshot. This can confuse you if you left it locked and forgot. My cons are really nitpicks at best, as for the price you really cannot get a better keyboard, even at list price of $40. Here's a link to the Amazon page for this keyboard. (non-referral)http://a.co/bZoHcD5
Man I wish metal keycaps weren't retardedly impractical for actual use, or insanely expensive
Man I wish metal keycaps weren't retardedly impractical for actual use, or insanely expensive
You can get (relatively) cheap ones off TaoBao. It's probably feasible to cover a planck or something with them without impoverishing yourself and the next seven generations of your family.
I've only owned my Anne Pro for about 3 months now but I already want something new, looking at an ergodox next. Anybody here use one? I want to try one out in person before I buy one but chances are I won't be able to.
Coworker is going to buy this piece of shit to spite me. What did I do to deserve this.
Just picked up a barely used backlit CM Quickfire TK from ebay with MX browns for £30 Was being tempted by MasterKeys M but don't really care about RGB. My second mech keyboard, first being a CM Quickfire Rapid TKL with MX blacks I got for a similar price The MX browns seem like they might be more to my preference. I got a switch tester shortly after my current board.
I backed the Tokyo60 on Massdrop, now I thankfully don't have to spend on anything else mechanical keyboard related for the next few months lol
Does anyone in this thread have a Wooting keyboard or tried one? Considering to get one
I've consistently had troubles with Ducky keyboards breaking on me- I don't think I'll be trying another Ducky. Only thing I care for is mech keys and super bright RBG leds. Any suggestions on brand?
Any recomendations on who makes a good cherry clear keyboard? I've been thinking about replacing my blues with something quieter.
My keyboard is slowly dying, whenever I press a key and let go, while it doesn't stick down, my PC still registers it an input meaning I constantly get long "rrrrrrrrr" and "constantlyconstantlyconstantlyconstantly" Sucks while playing video games where you have to be very specific in where you need to go, like Platformers. Now I ain't rich, I don't have a whole lot of money and I like Mechanical Keyboards, I was wondering if someone could help me find out if this is a decent keyboard. https://www.amazon.com.au/Colorful-Keyboard-Illuminated-Backlit-Rainbow/dp/B079BYJKPF/
Currently I'm rocking the QuickFire Rapid I from Cooler Master, but I'm looking to eventually upgrade, has anyone had experienced with the Filco Ninja Majestouch-2, Tenkeyless, full details here. So far through some searching it seems to be the cheapest, but most reliable Tenkeyless keyboard that I can get in Cherry MX Browns. Also if I were to replace the keycaps with white ones with an imprint on the front side in black text where would you recommend for the best quality. I don't want the plastic wearing away or letters scratching off.
Filco are probably the most solid cherry boards you're getting that aren't in kit form. I would recommend against mx browns though because they're just kinda crap. Any PBT dyesubs will last basically indefinitely.
What's wrong with mx browns? I've enjoyed mine quite a bit over the years, granted I've never tried anything else. Currently own a majestouch 2 TKL with mx browns and thick PBT and havent had any reason to feel anything but love
Sorry little update, my preference is MX Reds and I would prefer the keycaps to be PGT with a textured cap. What type of textures can you get?
They're so barely tactile that after a bit of wear they just feel like sticky linears. Gateron/Kailh browns are quite a lot nicer and more tactile.
What type of texture? I was a big fan of some keycaps I had a while back on a cheap cherry mx red keyboard and they had an almost smooth sort of rubbery/silicon coating. I'm more interested in something along the lines of that
Knock on wood and I dunno if the quality got worse later but I've had this Shine 2 for like 5 years and the only issue is the glue they use to hold the rubber feet in turns to goop and goes on the desk. Backlighting is also noisy as fuck but I don't frequently roll my face across the keyboard so it doesn't bother me, when I was still using a USB powered amp I could hear it through my headphones since it shat on the entire power rail.
The texture is just a rough plastic texture. The rubbery/silicon coating you're talking about is probably UV coating, which will wear off over time. I can't really think of anywhere you're going to find decent caps with it on either.
What is the coating they use on the high end Poker Keycaps like so https://i.imgur.com/9RpVhTW.png This is essentially what I want in terms of texture, it has a sort of rubber, non-slip either coating or texture but I've encountered it a few times and I'm not sure what it's called or where to get it in the UK
Pretty sure most backlit Pokers come with lasered ABS caps.
Hmm okay, any recommendations of places or brands to look for then? I don't mind import taxes so long as fix Cherry switches and have ISO keys, I'd prefer white if you know of anywhere. I've been looking for a while, not too happy with the WASD keys I currently have
Anyone?
Are you sure your repeat delay is just not set at 0? https://i.imgur.com/LKDFQKm.png
I haven't changed anything to the settings, and it isn't consistent at all.
Tried cleaning the switches?
Anyone have experience with a Cooler Master MK750? Anything good/bad to say about CM keyboards in general? I'm considering that as an upgrade from my current old (2009) membrane G15
Yup. Clean them on a regular basis.
Does it occur on all the switches or just some of them?
