According to [H]ardOCP the MSI P67A-GF65 is a really great choice. Too bad it's out of stock. :frown:
ASUS started shipping their boards again. Newegg should be restocked this week.
The question is, "When will EVGA and Gigabyte ship their boards?"
What's a good and non-expensive board for a 2500/2600K, anyone know? I wanna upgrade from my Q9550 for rendering applications and multimedia work but I don't want to spend all too much
I hear the Gigabyte P67-UD4 is great for overclocking, and it's around $200, which is pretty cheap. I've never had problems with gigabyte boards either, I've never had issues with them, so would prefer to stick with them.

I don't care about Firewire, I don't need that, which is what the UD4 lacks. Maybe we are perfect for each other then :v:

Gigabyte makes excellent hardware.
Yeah I have an EP45-UD3P which has worked great for the past 2 years, I'm just wondering if the similar priced MSI or ASUS boards are any better, I guess it's kind of a toss up.

I like the P67A-GD65 more, gigabytes boards are still using BIOS while nearly if not everyone else has started using UEFI

cheaper too
The new B3 GIGABYTEs look niiiice.
as far as I'm aware they will be the same as the boards from before B3, except with B3
The MSI P67A-GD65 is my board of choice. Oh it's in stock! To buy or not to buy?
buy probably, I don't remember what the price was like before but it looks fairly normal
I wouldn't expect it to stay in stock for long, it's the only reasonable 1155 board on newegg

Looks like I'm gonna be waiting anyway. Some build changes means I need a little more money and Spring break is coming up so I won't have time to build it before then. I'll buy after that and the stock/selection should be even better then.
i'm waiting for an 1155 board that has 3 PCIe slots and isn't asus or msi.

uh what's wrong with Asus and MSI
uh what's wrong with Asus and MSI
He probably had bad luck with 1 board and decided that it's a trash company.

if you need 3 PCI-E and you're on a budget there's an ASRock P67 board with 3 PCI-E slots for $150, not back in stock yet though
How long do you think it'l be till they are back in stock? I want to finish my build soon >:
Why would you need 3 PCIe slots? or do you mean one for some other kind of expansion card?
Why would you need 3 PCIe slots? or do you mean one for some other kind of expansion card?
because two gpus will load it up, and if I ever need to put something else in a pcie slot (whatever it is) i'll be boned.

What would you want to put in an extra PCIe slot? There is no need for a sound card, the boards all have built in RAID and ethernet. Are there any other expansion cards that must use a PCIe slot rather than a regular PCI slot?
What would you want to put in an extra PCIe slot? There is no need for a sound card
Some people do that have high-end speaker systems. I myself want the ability to SLi and have expandability for my sound card, or my wireless card for when I go to my buds house.
It's not about wanting and showing off for everyone. Some need the slots.
you can still SLi with 2 PCI-E slots
I don't know a whole lot about sound cards but I'm pretty sure most if not all are either PCI or PCI-E 1x, same with wireless cards
the only other PCI-E cards larger than 1x that spring to mind are SSDs
Damnit, respected dutch store putting this in stocks: http://www.alternate.nl/html/product/Moederborden_Socket_1155/ASUS/SABERTOOTH_P67_-=Rev.3.0=-/526164/?tn=HARDWARE&l1=Moederborden&l2=Intel&l3=Socket+1155
And then claiming over e-mail it's not the new one yet, is it me or does it say Rev 3.0?
I think it is? in the list of mobos the rest of the brand's fixed boards have (B3) stuck on the end of the name and several of the asus boards have rev 3 so I guess so
I want Newegg to get the P67-GD65 in stock already!

1. Expansion cards, dumb question.
2. Wrong, just because you have no use for one doesn't mean no one has use for one. I spent quite a large amount of money on my headphones (and so have a lot of people) and a sound card was necessary to get the best out of them.
3. Built-in RAID is slow as fuck and no where near as stable as a dedicated RAID card.

I have you on my ignore list, and I am once again reminded why that is so. So abrasive. :colbert:
Perhaps a sound card makes a difference for audiophiles but does that really need a PCIe slot?
Dedicated RAID cards are quite expensive so I'm not surprised that they are off better quality than a built in chip. I'd still like to see some documentation on this difference though.

My on board vs sound card is amazing. I can see the difference in my X-540s. If you need to pay extra for more slots then it's understandable.

I am using X-540s right now but I never took them to be top-quality speakers. Does speakers so cheap warrant a sound card?
