Remember that "How much hard drive space is enough?" thread? Ah, the nostalgia.
Link?
Yes
Then I repeat my earlier question to Odellus, where does it say he has an X58 motherboard and if he does why doesn't he already have triple channel RAM?
Then I repeat my earlier question to Odellus, where does it say he has an X58 motherboard and if he does why doesn't he already have triple channel RAM?
you said he doesn't have an i7 implying all i7s support triple channel RAM
Not like it's going to jump way up, it's not gas...lol
I wouldn't say that. DDR2 went up to the price of DDR3 in a day. I got 2GBs DDR2 a year and a half ago for $20. 800MHz stuff too. Two months after that it went up to $40 for 2GBs and $80-90 for 4GBs. [editline]6th November 2010[/editline] And I think a lot of people who posted in this thread should read this. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/32-bit-and-64-bit-Windows-frequently-asked-questions And this. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946765 To understand what 32-bit and 64-bit really are. (OS wise)
What? Wow... Did you even read the OP?
Oh i see you rated me dumb, so instead of arguing the point you're just going to miserably rate me dumb because you know you're an idiot who doesn't know shit about what his talking about.
all of the 9xx series core i7's use triple channel.
all of the 9xx series core i7's use triple channel.
You should quote, we don't know who you're talking to.
You should quote, we don't know who you're talking to.
He was stating it in general, I think.
He was stating it in general, I think.
But we'd already determined it.
4 will work. I put 8 in mine just for more wiggle room, and because games are getting more and more ram-hungry.
you said he doesn't have an i7 implying all i7s support triple channel RAM
Urgh you're just being pedantic, however I will refine my statement to 'he obviously cannot use triple channel RAM'. Happy?
Urgh you're just being pedantic, however I will refine my statement to 'he obviously cannot use triple channel RAM'. Happy?
hey you're the one that didn't get it right off the bat don't blame me
Urgh you're just being pedantic, however I will refine my statement to 'he obviously cannot use triple channel RAM'. Happy?
It's his job to point out our mistakes and rub it in our faces.
4 will work. I put 8 in mine just for more wiggle room, and because games are getting more and more ram-hungry.
Not really. But if it makes you feel better. [editline]7th November 2010[/editline] I currently have 2GBs of RAM and I've never used more than 1.7GBs in-game. I'm talking Far Cry 2, source games, and Medal Of Honor (brand new game.)
I've never seen ANY Source game take more than 1 gig. More modern games I've gotten to just under 2gb.
I've never seen ANY Source game take more than 1 gig. More modern games I've gotten to just under 2gb.
Team Fortress 2 takes around 1.5GBs.
Make like HP and install 9 GB. :smug: [editline]/[/editline] In one-and-a-half channel :smug:
It's dual-channel.
Team Fortress 2 takes around 1.5GBs.
Huh, I must have been wrong, then. I've only bothered measuring GMod and EP2, anyways.
It's dual-channel.
Apparently you don't get the joke :smug:
Apparently you don't get the joke :smug:
No. I got the joke. [editline]9th November 2010[/editline] I just simply answered with a serious literal reply.
garry's mod is the exception [editline]9th November 2010[/editline] garry's mod is the exception
You'd think with all the shit GMod has to put up with,(Mods, massive amounts of props, etc) it would be more liberal with RAM, wouldn't you?
I've got 6 gigs, and I usually have 2-3 GB that aren't being used. I just like the fact that I'm not going to run out of memory when I'm using my PC. That's why I have 6.

I have 4GB, and the only time I wished I had more was whilst playing Gmod, which can eat your RAM if you have a lot of mods installed. Though I guess it can never hurt to have a bit extra RAM.
