Nilrus obviously had a bad experience with a G15 or something and is now going to make it his life mission to keep every single person from buying a decent keyboard.
I use a Razer Lycosa, a large Razer Goliathus control mousepad, and Razer Mamba, but if you think mamba is too expensive get a Deathadder because its the same form but wired. If your getting the lycosa don't get the mirrored edition because it gets more oily and is more of a bitch to clean.

Nobody is starting an argument mate, I was just wondering why he dislikes the Razer mice.
G15, G5 and Razer Sphex.

Nope, the g15 is fine as a keyboard. But it's a ripoff. For a fraction of the price of a g15 you can get a normal keyboard that, as far as typing and durability goes, is at least equally as good.

Sure.

the texture of the mice feel weird, and the shape is just uncomfortable

and i've heard the drivers are shit

Lovely type feel and amazingly robust.
If you want those flashy lights there are lots of cheap glowing keyboards, or you can do it yourself. Want those extra buttons? Macros and hotkeys, heard of them? Want the LED screen? You're an idiot cause it's a useless gimmick.

no he didn't order it

Oh please, "they feel weird" is your personal opinion, not fact. You don't like them, sure. Doesn't mean they suck. If you're gonna hate on something and try to spread the hate at least have valid reasons.
Driver part may be true though, can't say as I've never owned a razer mouse but who installs the mouse utility drivers? all they do is fuck with your sensitivity settings and cause skipping.

My Customizer 104 is a mechanical keyboard and is heralded as a typist's dream on the computer
Hahaha, no. The HHKB and the Topre Realforce keyboards are heralded as the typists dream. Nothing against the the Model Ms, but they're hardly the top of the mechanical keyboard range.
Also, can you explain why it's better to own a Customizer rather than just buying a Model M and cleaning it? Seems like wasted money to me.

The texture is designed to keep your hand from slipping. It's a sort of matte-rubber, and I personally prefer it to the shiny, smooth mice available. Secondly, who needs mice drivers? It's entirely plug and play, and the only thing the mice drivers do are add bloatware and features that aren't really that useful. I've been using my Deathadder sans drivers since the day I got it, and it still has all the things I bought it for. (High IPS, 500ms polling, the likes)
Thread needs to be locked, I forecast a shitstorm

yea but topres and HHKBs are super expensive
You seem pretty sure to shoot down the Customizer at every turn even though there are people out there like myself that prefer the clunk of buckling springs to switches.
Also, the Model M isn't USB. Many people don't have PS/2 ports or don't prefer using one. It's also impractical for the Customizer to use the PS/2 port (as I found out) because the thing doesn't have full n-key rollover. Absolutely no point to using the PS/2 port over USB in that case except to save a USB slot. Additionally, the Customizer comes in black, and while you may prefer having a white brick sitting on your desk, most people would probably laugh at you for having something like that sitting around. Spray-painting is out of the question for many people as well such as college students etc or they're too inexperienced at spraypainting to feel the need to bother for a few bucks less. It's also going to smell like shit and possibly look like shit if you don't know what you're doing when you do paint it. Decent paint also costs the same, if not more, than the difference you would be saving from simply buying a Customizer.
Any questions? Would you like to do the research or do I have to continue?
First off, why not save a USB port? PS/2 works as well or better in all cases, and I have yet to see a computer that doesn't at least come with ONE PS/2 port. Besides, some older BIOSes don't recognize USB keyboards, so you'd be SOL in that scenario. PS/2 also reduces delay (although probably not noticeably), and because it's a true interrupt, can help in situations where things are starting to freeze wherein a USB keyboard wouldn't have anymore input.
Secondly, your entire argument against saving the money and getting a Model M is color. I'm entirely certain that your friends are going to laugh at you for having a keyboard you can hear in the next room long before they laugh at the color, because God knows with a customizer they'll hear you way before they see you. Besides, the buckling springs are far too loud to use in a workplace anyways, so apart from the occasional friend that's over, no one's ever going to see/hear it. And if we are to assume that color is actually an important feature to a keyboard, spray painting the caps and the board itself is a piece of cake. If for some reason you're too dumb to know how to finish something well, there's an entire forum over at http://www.geekhack.org where people will be more than willing to walk you through it. Plus you can do some really interesting stuff with a stencil or two and make the keyboard truly your own.
I have nothing against buckling springs. I have something against lazy people wasting money since they want a different color.
Besides, you repost your desk EVERY FUCKING PAGE in the post your desk thread, and I'm tired of it. No one cares that you moved your GameCube and rearranged your shelf. You're worse than Pixel Heart in the post your desktop thread. But alas, this is a different argument for a different time.

Yeah, which is why they're heralded as a typist's dream.
Does it really matter if you get a Model M or a Unicomp? They are the same thing it doesn't even matter
Does it really matter if you get a Model M or a Unicomp? They are the same thing it doesn't even matter
Well yes, except one's about 3x the cost of the other. Oh, and black. Because apparently that's important these days.

If you are looking to pay that much for a mouse then check the Razers out, more buttons, generally look nicer, better DPI and are comfy.
Better dpi? Did you just say that? You do realize once you climb over 1000 DPI you're dealing with negative acceleration and a slew of other problems. But they're "better" right? Even though the laser sensor found in the Xai/G9x/G500 is the only good laser sensor on the market.
Steelseries mice are the shit, Kinzu for optical and Xai for laser. The DA is the only decent razer mouse and it's delicate with a pretty big hit/miss thing going on with it.

G5?
G5?
overlooked that but most people go with the MX518 over it because the G5's laser isn't that great itself. On lower dpi it's not a big deal but personally I'd go optical > g5
to add onto this I've used both and found myself loving the MX518. They don't break like G5s do (in my experience and in my bro's experience) and I was more consistent with it.
