This is the most recent review of how Windows 7 compares against Windows XP in games that i could find.

According to this W7 is quite a bit faster then XP.
Windows 7 64bit.
Easy decision, you will never go back.
I agree.
Why the fuck is this thread filled with informatives?
Because someone spammed it
I think they're about the same, except on lowend stuff like Nvidia 7XXX and ATI 1XXX and lower. For any DX10/DX11 cards they're the same pretty much.
Depends what games really, and soon enough most games are probably going to discontinue support for XP
I really need a new computer, running XP with only like 30 GBs of ram, considering most the new computers have about a TB :/ My prossessor is bad and my graphics card is moderate.
Damn you people with your high end tech! Does anyone know how long XP users have untill people stop supporting them? I just want a rough estimate.

what
The only game i had better performance on with XP was Bad Company 2. So i recommend 7.
7 x64
I'd say 7....
what
Yeah man. 30GB of RAM is not much at all by these standards.

I mean how does he run an OS with that little RAM
I just downloaded another 3TB so I'm sitting on a nice 9TB RAM, gets me about 30fps in source
I need to overclock my harddrive by another couple of jiggawatts to get the 40 I've been aiming for though

You've successfully confused me.
get 7. the game quality depends more on the game when choosing between the two, but xp is going to die sooner than 7, and 7 will have new things coming out for it, where as xp wont.

makes sense to me. get with the times bro.
Intel Core 2 CPU

3.00 GHz, 3.25 GB of RAM
is it a Q6600 or E6600?
I would go for W7
The XP in 'Windows XP" stands for eXPerience.

It's already happening
Internet Explorer 9 - No XP Support
Windows Live 2011 (Messenger, Movie Maker, et al) - No XP Support
Microsoft Office V.Next (2012) - No XP Support
It won't be long before games aren't able to support DirectX/Direct3D 9 anymore too.
There is no reason you should chose a decade old OS.
I have been using W7 for a week or so now and I like it so much more than XP. I'm glad I changed.
So many .
I would get windows 7, because of the newer direct X versions. XP only goes up to DX 9. I think 7 should have DX 10 by now, and it looks A LOT better.

I believe Windows 7 is at Direct X 11 by now.
Windows XP might be slightly faster, but Windows 7 supports DirectX 10/11, and some games (Just Cause 2, Shattered Horizon) simply do not work with XP.

I used Windows 98 in 2005.
...Oh wait, that isn't a decade. :saddowns:

XP isn't a decade old either. Its not 2011 yet.
I did use Windows 95 up until 2006.
By the way,
I've been running XP for a long time, and it runs great, but I think 7 would probably run it faster. Mostly it depends on what video card etc. though.
Windows 7
