Putting words in my mouth a bit. And assuming I was dead set on a Bulldozer in the first place; I had a coupon that brought it to $160 and I was just making a thread to see if it was even worth it. I think I got my answer, albeit in the form of a bunch of assholes jumping in and shoving insults and shit down my throat for even QUESTIONING if a Bulldozer was worth it. As a matter of fact, I never even said I wanted an AMD: I said, okay, here are my options; is it worth it to get a Bulldozer at this price? Some people said no, and when I pressed them further for some evidence I'm labeled as an AMD fanboy and rated dumb just by wanting to come to an informed decision about what is most cost-effective for my needs.
Nope that's not what happened. You said Bulldozer only did horribly in synthetic benchmarks. I show that it did poorly in real world tests as well and then you just repeated that it did bad in synthetic tests, completely ignoring what I said. Then after linking you to the bit-tech review you posted a review from Anandtech to counter it, but Anandtech does mostly synthetic tests, the very tests that you were previously against. You also tried to downplay the power consumption issue by saying your current CPU uses about the same amount, which isn't true. At that point I gave up because you weren't considering what other people were saying. So don't try and claim it was just you inquiring and then getting immediately jumped on as an AMD fanboy, because people can in fact read the thread and can see that it didn't happen that way.

I read the thread and it just looks like because I didn't immediately accept the i5-2500k as the best processor available people started getting frustrated. Perhaps I didn't know as much as you did about the whole situation, but that doesn't immediately mean you're right and I'm wrong, especially for trying to make an informed purchase. At no point did I say I was set on a Bulldozer or Phenom. In the end - I decided on the i5 anyway. So whatever.
So im considering a bulldozer as well. My mobo is an AM3+ socket so i didnt plan on getting a new one (hence i wasn't really considering an i5) is it worth it to get the 8150 or 8120? Current processor is a Phenom II x4 955 black 3.1ghz.
I upgraded to an i5 2500k. Both the FX-8XXX processors are in the similar price range as the i5 so you'd be better off with an i5 for price. if you can't budget a new mobo, either wait or get the Phenom X6.
I could get the new mobo i was hoping i wouldnt have to and/or the FX wasnt as bad as everyone said.
Bulldozer is really a server architecture. Consumers really don't benefit from it. Besides, in benchmarks, the Phenoms absolutely destroy Bulldozer.

But that doesn't translate to great performance for servers either. My i5 is my first Intel processor since the Pentium 4 and it is fan-fucking-tastic. :-D
