May I have a really large version of the last picture in the OP (the one of the heatsink standing up), please?
Are you planning on powder coating the Case?
Sure am my brother want's the interior powder-coated in a similar blue to the motherboard.
Looks awesome so far, but wouldn't it have been better to get higher specs rather than a nice case etc. if it's a budget build?
That is a good point but I convinced him to let me make a project of it and Lian-Li is the best way to go when modding is concerned, specs-wise its plenty powerful enough for him.
Do you still get your hardware from Scan?
Most of the time stuff on SCAN actually works out cheaper than through the wholesalers I am members of. What paint will you be using? Also how long would the process take for you to do? Oh and one last thing, I have the coolermaster Haff 922 case and I'm not sure how to prep the inside for powder coating, any tips would be great! :)

I've got new parts for a build and am planning to mod my current case. Got any pointers? I plan on flipping, spraying my psu. Spraying the inside of my case. And the front grill to my antec 300. I have no idea how I'm gonna cut right now as I have no dremel. I thought about just drilling and and going from their with a handsaw of some sort. The biggest hole I'll need to cut is the exhaust after flipping my psu. The others are gonna be about an inch just for some cable management around the board.
Hey Milky, I've got a question. How do you handle your parts? Usually I just use my bare hands, but I've got this thing about finger prints which bothers me on the shinier components. Any tips?
A little but of rubbing acahol on some smooth cloth is what i use gets rid of the oils to
Also works for stubborn thermal compound
Yeah, I recently bought a bottle of 99% isopropyl alcohol just for the purpose of dissolving old thermal paste. I'll try that next time I get finger prints all over a shiny part, thanks guys.
Where the hell do you buy 99%? I can only find 91%
Usually they keep it behind the counter at pharmacies to prevent people from drinking it, it can be very damaging if it somehow gets into your body.

How much did the powder-coating cost? And who exactly is powder-coating it, an auto shop? Surely they don't powder-coat PC cases often..

I don't see why they wouldn't paint them, more business.

Sorry to be a pain asking for stuff all the time, but once you finish the build could you upload all the photos in a .rar or something as they are awesome. I want literally all of them as my wallpaper at once :v:

And the price was £55 as we chose a special blue colour, a plain black like I had done in Project Stealth was only £20. This dudes first build is what convinced me to get a Corsair 800D, his shit is amazing. Still miss my CM Cosmos S even though it's sitting in a cupboard. Nice case though.
Just a quick update today, I picked up the case from the powder-coaters, looks very nice and when all the parts are in and the other mods are done it should be just the right side of garish. I did a quick test fit of the mobo and PSU to check the 24pin I'm currently making is the correct length;
Dammit, I wanna do this on my next build now.
It looks so weeeiiird maan. Never thought of a blue case. I look at the MoBo-s blue and I am like wtf when I see the case. I would like to see it with all the stuff around it to, not only with metal inside.
Love your work as always.
Milky's threads are the reason I'm going to sleeve every cable on my PSU as soon as I can order some sleeving. :c

If you don't mind me asking, is it expensive to get stuff powder coated?
Wow, seeing this makes me want to powder coat everything. More progress is slowly being made, we put the system together with all the stock parts to check it was all working and because it was supposed to be a Christmas present so my bro wanted to use it on Christmas day :v: It was all running fine so a couple days later and its back in the workshop and dismantled: First I fitted the Thermalright We also got some mirrored perspex for the floor of the case, it has a protective cover on for now, it will be fully reflective when thats off. Also the cut around the base of the PSU isn't the greatest as my dad and brother did it when I wasn't here. The 24pin is finally complete, I've also done all the front panel connectors too. Were going to see if we can get away without mounting a fan directly onto the cooler and if the exhaust fan will be enough on it's own, should be an interesting experiment.
Looking good, Taylor! :D Is the 24 pin homemade?

Then you'd have to do the old Dell trick: http://www.gamry.com/Support/PstatPhotos/OpenDell_Hi_NoCable_Web.jpg
Ossum, you probably shoulda made it orange though :D
