I doubt that you'll be able to get away with that, at least if you're planning on overclocking. Then you'd have to do the old Dell trick: http://www.gamry.com/Support/PstatPhotos/OpenDell_Hi_NoCable_Web.jpg
It's an i3 2100, I'm sure it'll be fine.

Then you'd have to do the old Dell trick: http://www.gamry.com/Support/PstatPhotos/OpenDell_Hi_NoCable_Web.jpg
It's not a K series processor so no overclocking will be done, we've been doing some testing today with a fan attached and the idle temps are around 22c and after an hour of Prime95 the max temp was recorded at 46c
Not bad. Stock paste and cooler for my 2500k leaves my idles at around 40C, but i just got my MX-4 in and should have my Hyper 212+ by tuesday, we'll see what that does.
I need better paste. The one that came with my a70 was very think and seemed dried out. What's a good paste other than as5 and mx-2? I've been looking at that diamond blend and it seems interesting.
MX-4, you get .5g more than AS5 for the same price, it has better temps, no break in period like metallic pastes, it's non-conductive too.
I will be using my usual paint-shop to get the powder-coating done it's not something you can really do at home easily. as for prepping your case, you need to remove anything that isn't metal, which is easy to do on a Lian-Li as its pretty much entirely aluminium, as the powder-coating process involves baking the paint on which will obviously melt any plastics etc on the case.
Eastwood has some stuff for home powder coating. You do it in your oven! http://www.eastwood.com/hotcoat-powder-coating.html Doesn't sound like it's too expensive to have the shop do it for you but might be fun to try sometime.
update this thread, im eager to see what else you have accomplished with this build :D
I agree, I'm still excited for that .zip compilation someone requested of all the pictures of this build.
More pics please :)
okay milky you are not valve please don't adopt their policy on fans
okay milky you are not valve please don't adopt their policy on fans
Didn't he say he'd give you it when the build was done? From what I can tell it isn't so just chill.
But this is a worklog thread. :I
Sorry guys over the Christmas break no real progress was made other than getting the system up and running on stock parts to make sure it was working. Since then my brother has commandeered it and has been using it, however tomorrow its coming back to the workshop to be finished off.

Seeing that powder-coated case in my favorite color makes me want to get one next time I build a new PC. How much did the powder-coating cost?
Still nothing? Around when can we see some updates?
Yet were the children of Facepunch to learn, several days earlier Milky had been involved in a terrible automotive accident which ended in his demise. The little boys and girls of Facepunch would never get their pretty computer pictures.
Milky - whats going on with the images!? lol
Any updates?
Hey guys sorry I haven't had a chance to do any more work on the system as my brother has been happily using it for the last month or so and couldn't care less about it being finished so it's been tricky trying to get a time when I can steal it back, for those people asking for the images, here's a link to a zip containing the original images: http://db.tt/ZoVlrLav
So are you still building for other people, or did that venture not go so well?
So are you still building for other people, or did that venture not go so well?
He probably would if somebody would order I guess. The site is http://milkyware.co.uk/
I think you've already posted this before Milky, but what camera and lens do you use?
So are you still building for other people, or did that venture not go so well?
I've done the odd bit for people but no full system yet unfortunately.
I think you've already posted this before Milky, but what camera and lens do you use?
A Nikon D40 with the stock lens.
I always have a feeling that I want to buy a PC from Milky but I know that I probably won't have money for it and will have to build a budget PC / upgrade my PC. I probably couldn't make it even look that good. Maybe some cable management and stuff, but never the quality and effort as Milky does. Still no new news otherwise?
