A) Its a waste of time. You'll never be able to block EVERY bad site.
B) Your prolonging the inevitable. He WILL see that stuff someday, he will get curious, and if he is really determined, find ways around the blocks (ie. proxies). You have good intentions, but it is a really bad idea long term.

Make sure they have a little common sense about web safety, too. Simple stuff, like no giving out personal information or passwords, downloading from untrusted sites, or following suspicious links. You don't need any fancy software- that's more aggravating than useful.
I would install myWOT and turn on the child safety ratings because that blocks out most shit

Sibling love is great. My mom has 2 brothers and they all help each other and are great friends. I don't see what's wrong caring about a relative.
