In HWMonitor, is the first thing on the list the PSU?
It's usually different for everyone. Usually it lists the voltages then temps. The voltages won't really tell you much about your PSU.
Then whats Fintek F71882F?
A chip on your motherboard
Post the model of your Alienware. No one will help until we have figured out the quality of your PSU. [editline]03:30PM[/editline] Wait a minute, you have the Aurora ALX right? They only sell PSU of 875watts... [editline]03:33PM[/editline] Never mind, it is just the Aurora. [editline]03:36PM[/editline] Wait a minute, you were the dumbass defending the Aurora http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=954759&page=2
Wait a minute, you were the dumbass defending the Aurora http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=954759&page=2
What the actual fuck... :froggonk: The extent to which they deceive and openly take advantage of their customers is diabolical. They ought to be closed down.
What the actual fuck...:froggonk: Alienware ought to be closed down. The extent to which they rip their customers off is beyond ridiculous. Diabolical.
I still don't see how some people don't get any enjoyment out of building a pc. It may be time consuming, but dammit it's fun to learn new things, and should something fail, it's nice to understand what part is at fault. It also isn't the hardest thing in the world to figure out and even if you aren't bothered putting it together, can't a pc repair shop do it for you for much cheaper then Alienware or Dell charge, and much faster too.
Alienware IS Dell. No wonder. I'm ashamed to say I once bought a Dell, and it took longer to arrive than it would've taken me to order the parts and build it myself. It broke down a year later and I had them refund my money so that I could buy another Dell, but I was curious and instead I got into building my own. Boy am I glad it broke, because if it didn't I'd be using that same Dell to this day, and I wouldn't know how to build a computer or the extent that you get ripped off if you don't.
Cool story bro.

RIP.
I think I've decided on this one.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150494&cm_re=5850-_-14-150-494-_-Product&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=3640869&SID=skim629X1198 How well does it work?
It'll work. Edit: Well.
:keke: Yay, now I have to come up with $300.
Can I have your old card?
Can I have your old card?
Nah, sorry bud but I'm goin to put it in my old computer.
Ahhhh shucks
How much of a difference is there between the 5750 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150448&Tpk=xfx%205750) and the 5850 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150494&cm_re=5850-_-14-150-494-_-Product&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=3640869&SID=skim629X1198)
The 5850 is hugely faster
What, most people have 4870s which are better than the GT260s when they have I7-920s. You must have followed some bad advice.
The 5850 is hugely faster
SO its worth the extra $150?
Depends.
On?
What games you're planning on playing. If you wan't to play legend of Zelda, don't get a 5850.
Here's some benchmarks for the 5770(closest card to 5750) and the 5850 http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-5770,2446-7.html
I think I'm going to get it.
Wait, for what I'm going to be playing (Crysis, Garrysmod, CSS), I think it would be better to just get the 5750, becuase the 5850 has an extra 25MHz clock and 256 bit interface. Does interface have that big of a difference, and does 25MHz do THAT much?
