Start Screen > User Name > Log off?
The less bullshit I have to navigate through, the better.
I removed my old windows 7 installation then this appeared what kind of systemfile is that? :v:
Windows 8 wants to keep the kawaii. You should listen to it. I have a question since I've never done an upgrade before: Will I have to re-download all the steam games I currently have installed? I'd like to know before hand since I'm Australian.
After using 8 as my primary OS since release preview, I have to say: I really like the changes now. The start menu? I don't miss it. My start screen isn't too filled either - I Just keep the essentials on there. The lock screen? Fantastic, actually. I wake up, turn on my monitor, and I already see the next Google Calendar (syncing for the win) event, and email count. Sure, it's subtle, but it does a very nice job with it.

Or just mess in the registery, but it's easier to 're-install' Steam.

So I'm hoping third time's the charm with this Win8 install. The first time I did it their way and it ended up with a black screen after the initializing devices part that someone here was also experiencing and then I tried just DLing the iso but both times it would stop and say it's done downloading before it was finished. So now I downloaded win8 through their installer again and it's putting itself on a flashdrive so I think I'll be bullet proof now. My download speed is only 400kb/s so it's been very irritating added with the time it takes for it to do everything outside of downloading. Edit: Still the same black screen issue! I'm not in the mood for this I'll just use 7 until launch.
I removed my old windows 7 installation then this appeared what kind of systemfile is that? :v:
It's from FL Studio, which dumps some stuff in your system folders.
I tried out the preview today. Severely disappointed. I was really looking forward to Windows 8 but a lot needs to change for me to use it. There is just too much functionality lost for my liking, and it takes longer to access my programs. I also hate the way it forces you to the Start UI, instead of going straight to the Desktop. I would actually definitely make the purchase if they added the option to remove the Metro UI and re-enable the Start menu for those that like it, but I doubt they will. Windows 7 it is then!
Can I still sync my gmail like on android?
yeah. it's marginally more complex(unless google developed a gmail app for Windows Phone), but you just have to go to gmail settings and get the info to set it up in an email client and you're good to go.

Release date: http://www.theage.com.au/digital-life/computers/windows-8-release-date-set-for-october-20120710-21sai.html
3 months give or take a few days how boring
How do I use the preview when every time it does the final step of detecting devices or w/e it just ends up as a black screen where I can move my cursor around?
Has anyone used Windows 8(2012) Server edition beta?
I thought Windows 8 would be out in August. October is too damn far away for the Release Preview to be the RC, unless the Microsoft team is just jacking each-other off in the meantime.

I was thinking about trying Windows 8 Beta for my primary OS, I did when 7 was in beta. Should I?
I was thinking about trying Windows 8 Beta for my primary OS, I did when 7 was in beta. Should I?
it should be fine. the freezing issue has a fix(can't remember what it is) so once you've dealt with that(if you have to) it's golden
I was thinking about trying Windows 8 Beta for my primary OS, I did when 7 was in beta. Should I?
Right now? NO! Wait for the RTM build in August
Will the RTM build be released/leaked to the public? Will you be able to use the release preview CD key with it until January?
Will the RTM build be released/leaked to the public? Will you be able to use the release preview CD key with it until January?
The RTM is what is released to the public... so no you can't use non-valid keys.
The RTM is what is released to the public... so no you can't use non-valid keys.
But the re-arming trick *should* still work for a full 120 days of use, so you can save up and afford a license key. If I am mistaken, please correct me on this.

It's a different OS so don't take it for granted that it will work.
Well, the point I was trying to make was if you do install a leaked RTM build, you probably won't be able to buy a licence yet.
Well, the point I was trying to make was if you do install a leaked RTM build, you probably won't be able to buy a licence yet.
Maybe not retail, but if you can get the RTM you usually have a license or don't need one. The RTM release is meant for OEMs and tech enthusiasts who do not buy retail.
I had the best ITunes but with the consumer preview. Every time you would close it it would reopen immediately. It was hilarious.
Apple doesn't take too kindly to you turning it off like that.
Why not? They have enough services constantly running in the background anyway...
The Developer preview looks soo much better :(
Beautiful wallpaper - where do I get it? :) [editline]12th July 2012[/editline] This page offers what appears to be a cropped version :( http://www.wallpaperfo.com/Color/Green/green_mountains_landscapes_nature_autumn_wild_waterfalls_1920x1200_wallpaper_38903
