Any news of W8 Enterprise yet?
Me neither, none severe atleast. Speccy crashes but who gives a shit about that. The only real problem I've had so far is that Win8 doesn't seem to like my multi-monitor setup. The pointer frequently gets stuck on the edge between the displays (extended desktop), and a few times before I reach the login screen the system can't decide what screen to use so it flickers back and forth.
You mean on the edges? If so it is so you can access the menu thing where you put your mouse in the corner.
You mean on the edges? If so it is so you can access the menu thing where you put your mouse in the corner.
Oh, yeah, it helps accessing the right pop-out menu. Still annoying however that it's the top corner where the window bars are, they should've made the lower-right edge "mouse proof" instead.
Some games like Battlefield 3 get slight fps bumps. The only game that doesn't work that I tested is LA Noire.
This worked for me:
Hello everyone, inspired by czech loc patch and the comments of this thread i made a workaround to finally play l.a noire on win 8 in english 1. Download this rar file : http://www.filedropper.com/win8noirefiles add the two files in your l.a noire directory commonly is : Steam\steamapps\common\l.a.noire\final\pc 2. Install the latest rockstar social club client: http://patches.rockstargames.com/pro....5%20Setup.exe 3. Launch the game and play
How well does W8 work for general use or college work? Last preview I used was the developer preview and my current bandwidth isn't really fast enough to download the new one.
Apparently AMD's "driver verification" tool for laptops doesn't like W8. Is there any other way to download drivers for "Mobility Radeon" cards?
My new primary OS.
why does it say enterprise

Graphics drivers wouldn't cause that issue.
well it happened exactly after i restarted after installing the drivers tough..
Just a question, but is anyone here on windows 8 RP and running these AMD drivers? http://downloads.guru3d.com/AMD-Catalyst-12.7-Official-BETA-W7-download-2937.html I installed them but whenever I open CCC it just says "Catalyst Control Center cannot be started. There are currently no settings that can be configured using Catalyst Control Center." This beta is from 25th of June, so shouldn't this support W8? If not, where could I find the latest AMD drivers that work with W8?
umm you could try google which gives you this http://www2.ati.com/drivers/hotfix/win8/amd_catalyst_win8_release_preview.exe
W8 has a new driver signature system. You need to enable test mode to install new drivers. You must use the official Windows 8 drivers otherwise.
New driver signature system you say? It didn't complain when I installed the latest geforce drivers though...
W8 has a new driver signature system. You need to enable test mode to install new drivers. You must use the official Windows 8 drivers otherwise.
Ah, didn't know that. I'll try enabling test mode and I'll see if it works. Thanks.
Because it's actually Win 8 Enterprise. Apparently I'm one of the first to get access to it, because I can't find any results for it on the internet and it isn't on any pirate websites. No, I won't leak it. Also, it isn't my primary OS anymore :(. ASUS broke their Xonar ASIO drivers. Apparently it checks the registry to make sure that the OS is Windows 7 every time it boots.
please leak it =(
Windows-To-Go
Why? It's essentially just the RP with Enterprise features.
What build number is it?
What build number is it?
8400 [editline]16th July 2012[/editline]
W8 has a new driver signature system. Office to be bundled for free on all WinRT tablets: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/news/Press/2012/Jul12/07-16OfficePR.aspx The link is a bit broken, but you can now preview the new version here: http://bit.ly/LiHiP4 I've been using it for the past few days, and it's incredibly fast and fluid. The office team has worked their asses off rewriting major parts of office to achieve that speed.
-snip- lol
You wouldn't have this problem if you had any organization skills what so ever. Also don't hotlink from Ars Technica.
You wouldn't have this problem if you had any organization skills what so ever. Also don't hotlink from Ars Technica.
How can you organize this? The start menu doesn't support folders or grouping. And it's shameful how Microsoft own apps don't even do Metro icons like IE.
How can you organize this? The start menu doesn't support folders or grouping. Also right click on the start screen and click 'All Apps' Its grouped and you can zoom in and out by holding Control and scrolling your mouse wheel.
Do you pin all your shit the the root of the start menu in Windows 7? No? Why would you do it in Windows 8?
It gets put there automatically. How do you think the Windows 8 start menu works? Granted, I haven't used Windows 8, but that's how it works.
It gets put there automatically. How do you think the Windows 8 start menu works? Granted, I haven't used Windows 8, but that's how it works.
Why bother arguing about how something works if you haven't used it?

This can be a little unfortunate when installing large desktop applications, as many of them dump a whole load of icons onto the Start screen. Given the way that the Start screen's layout is both personal and customizable, this is a little offensive;

http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2012/04/windows-8-on-the-desktopan-awkward-hybrid/
You can set it not to do that.
How can you organize this? The start menu doesn't support folders or grouping.
