And the day before mine!
And the day before mine!
And it gets released on A DAY rather than never! Woot. I am so pumped for the 29th. Mass migrating all my computers to Windows 8 Beta.
Can't wait as well. I'll probably install it on my laptop and my PC.
I've tried it with my bamboo, It doesn't work with Windows 8's gestures

Really? That's depressing. Maybe i'll fork out the money for that overlay then :v:

I'll keep an eye at BetaArchive to see if it had really leaked. Though to be honest the screen comes from PCBeta who has shown images of private leaks before, so I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Fake
How do these get leaked all the time? :v:
Is it intentional? Because if it isn't I can imagine some higher-ups at MS ripping their hair out going "WHO IS THIS ASSHOLE"

Microsoft is based in Redmond, Washington, USA. (Close to me)
But I wouldn't put it past them to have the discs made in China, and have only one copy fall through the cracks? I'm quite shocked there haven't been more leaks like there were for Windows 7.

They don't have internal/interim builds on CD anymore and haven't for a while. Even when they used to they more than likely burned at Redmond because the amount of discs handed out was pretty slim.
Most builds leak, or used to, because someone who works at MS has access to a build, gave it to a friend, who then gave it to another friend, and so on until it was handed off to the wrong person and it leaked publicly.
Cool.
Question: how well optimised are the current builds? Might install this onto my old netbook.
Installing this on my netbook right now.

Wait another 5 or 6 days, that's when we get the new build which might be worth installing.
I'm stuck using a buggy, glitch-ridden Ubuntu 12.04 until Ubuntu Beta and Windows Consumer Preview come out, almost on the same day. :/ I'll just have to ride it out and hope the Consumer preview leaks a day or two early, as usual. I'm the farthest west you can go, so to me, everything gets released a day early.
I thought someone mentioned by the time the Consumer preview comes out, that it might already be on build 8300. Would they still send out 8250, or would they send the more up to date 8300?

We get the old one, because it goes through testing and signed off.
When a new bulid comes out, do you have to reinstall everything?
When a new bulid comes out, do you have to reinstall everything?
Since you re-install your OS to use a different build, yes.
That's why I'm holding out a few more days until I reinstall. Makes no sense to reinstall Developer Preview at the moment. Maybe a month ago, but now it's too close.

You probably should have reinstalled earlier, rather than letting your fucked up installation ruin the OS for you.
Oh, and don't make a "truth" video when the consumer preview releases, nobody actually gives a shit about the opinion of most people unless they already agree with your opinion. It'll probably be you complaining about shit that doesn't matter anyway.

They should hit 8290 by tomorrow. 8293 on the 29th. However the Beta could be anywhere from 8250 to 8274 as those are reserved for the beta.

Metro Office 15. It's metro and still looks a whole lot better than VS11: http://www.theverge.com/2012/2/23/2818611/microsoft-office-15-screenshots-technical-preview

And I really hope that 8's explorer ribbon will look like that to match though I doubt it will because it's Microsoft.

No no, I will make the video. But it won't be biased. It will only be informative and fair.

Wow, that actually looks really nice. I hope they do keep it consistent.

Keep it as unbiased as possible and it might actually be worth watching. (That means no bitching about Metro for the sake of bitching, you'll need real reasons)

I am sorry you are not informed that until HTML5 is fully done, flash still has to be used and flash will still have its uses after HTML5 is here.

I am not sure if you are aware of this, but .webm videos are already here, and that is more than enough for a decent replacement of flash VIDEOS. But flash in general has its purposes far beyond handling videos. I dont know where you got the idea that HTML5 is not already here, but, it is; just not massively being used yet, and is still being developed, but that doesn't mean it is not already being deployed on websites, and even Google has already switched youtube beta over to handling HTML5 videos.
Sorry I'm late, just remembered this thread today.
Thinking about the Win8 logo, why don't they use the logo that they use for the Windows Store?

Looks Metro-y enough, but keeps the colour...
Thoughts?
I sure wish they would synchronize Office and Windows releases, and launch them together. Would be less headaches for IT professionals and businesses.

If it turns out this is true then Microsoft is going in a good direction.
