Looks like I'm staying RP until someone manages to theme it :x
probably won't take long
Bad news regarding a possible RTM leak:
Win7 and earlier installed without keys, or with 30-day keys. Vista and Win7 could be re-set for up to 120 days of use without a key. Not so Win8: the installer requires you to have a key, or Win8 won’t install. There are people actively working on cracks, but nobody knows if they’ll succeed, or how the keys will be genned.
http://www.nsaneforums.com/topic/139999-windows-8-rtm-version-62-build-9200-leaks-in-the-air/
Windows just posted on their facebook that it has been released to manufacturing. http://win8.ms/okxch5 Link actually has a time line of when everything is scheduled to happen, too.
Saw this on Dreamspark and my heart leaped for a moment. Nope, just release preview.
Hey that's a good point. My MSDN AA account will expire in September (I assume anyway), will Windows 8 be available to enterprise/universities by then? [editline]2nd August 2012[/editline] hahahaha my uni has closed my MSDN account anyway. Oh well
Hey that's a good point. Sometimes we get releases with TechNet, sometimes a little before retail, and sometimes after.
Does this require a restart? Doesn't seem to be having much affect for me in Windows 7? [editline]1st August 2012[/editline] Also in Windows 8, if a fullscreen/DirectX program crashes, does it actually give focus to the "blah has stopped working" box, or is it still hidden?
I didn't see this one get focused at all, I wasn't even running anything true fullscreen. Apparently Windows 8 Enterprise x64 has leaked. It's a NONBOOT and Volume License, so I doubt anyone's interested in it. I also read that Windows 8 doesn't have a grace period, though haven't really seen that confirmed anywhere. I'm currently downloading it at 2.3MB/s and will be done in about hour just to pluck an msstyles out, if anyone wants any resources like wallpapers, sounds, etc let me know.
Someone has extracted the wallpapers; you can find them here. They're quite flowery. I'd link to the source, but it's a forum which openly discusses Windows activation cracks and such. Not sure if that'd break the rules on warez here.
I don't know how late I am, but win8 enterprise-n leaked. It's legit, confirmed by canouna.
Looks like theming will be just as it was in 7. Not sure about transparency though the frames are actually transparent with DWM Colorization Color behind them, though it should be possible. Can't confirm until I have it installed with a uxtheme patch though.
So there IS transparency after all?
So there IS transparency after all?
Only on the taskbar. Hello from 8 everyone. I've got to say OOBE is quite fun. [editline]2nd August 2012[/editline] Tried to change DWM's Colorization Color in the registry, no transparency :( [editline]2nd August 2012[/editline] Though looks like we might be able to control it in the msstyles :) http://i.cubeupload.com/YDxyZ6.png
The new taskbar looks cheap. The one from 7 looks way more professional!
I've been reading from this thread and others that Microsoft has locked down the store and won't allow third party Metro applications to be installed that isn't from the store, then I remembered, how did Chrome Dev do it a while ago? [editline]2nd August 2012[/editline] For anyone who's a fan of the color black: Also Explorer has crashed 4 times in the last few minutes.
I don't have access to Windows 8 yet, however I was wondering if anyone knows if you cant make the window borders (called border padding in 7) smaller. The default padding looks kind of bloated.

Thanks! That's great news :)
did they seriously not change this, or it's just a leak thing

So... Since transparency isn't a stock option, is there a way to make the taskbar a flat color?
So... Since transparency isn't a stock option, is there a way to make the taskbar a flat color?
No.
You know how in windows vista only the taskbar was transparent then someone made aeroglass, same story with windows8
Panda, did you take the non-boot & rar it or run the ISO?

Here I am, just wanting to untick show desktop icons to empty the recycle bin. Now what asshole decided that my Puush save folder should go to the desktop?
