Oh :C Is there any conceivable way to alter it yourself?
No. Unfortunately not. - So much for OEM Activation 3.0. Though I doubt anyone's really surprised: http://www.neowin.net/news/windows-8-rtm-leaked-isos-have-been-cracked
Uhh look, us linux users are all happy about this steam thing if that is what you mean, but Windows 8 is not bad from a naked look, i guess. And also, this isn't the thread to rant about Windows 8.
It may not be the thread to rant about Windows 8, but Windows 8 makes me so mad I can't help but say how much I hate it. I've been using Windows since Windows 3.1 and I've never seen Microsoft make such horrible UI and the BSOD has an emoticon ":(" on it. It's so horrible it just makes me really mad. They're catering for morons who unlike us pro users want everything to look childish with big buttons because they don't know how to use gadgets or open a browser. I don't give a crap about how much mums and dads love the way it looks, don't force the rest of us to use this shit. What really annoys me is that they know people hate it and yet they don't care, what an insult. Microsoft logic; " no body is buying Windows Phone 7 so lets force people to use on their computers, yes a tablet OS on the desktop, what a great idea" . I'm so angry I feel like my head will explode whenever I see this horrible pile of shit. FUCK! I can't help it.
I don't know if Windows 8 makes theming harder or simpler if you make a mistake. If for whatever reason any modification you make breaks Explorer in anyway it'll automatically repair itself.
Any way I can install 8 RTM without burning to a CD or having a USB stick? [editline]6th August 2012[/editline] Will this work for RTM?
All I can say is; Good bye Microsoft you've fucked up Windows so much that I have no to reason to use it. It'll be Windows 7 for next 6 to 10 years then all Linux. And if stuff isn't gonna work on Linux there is always Mac.
Uh have you tried it?

And if you regard the gadgets as "pro" I think a simplified OS with big buttons might actually fit you very nicely.
After a bit of looking around, some good news finally hit me, and I was able to find a method to spoof the KMS server, or whatever you want to refer to the process as. So now, for 180 days, until I do it again, Windows 8 Enterprise-N is fully activated. I even will provide a pretty screenshot of the start screen and it's prettyness: (Did I mention it's pretty?) :v: If you cannot be bothered to find the solution to activating the RTM yourself, PM me. I am not trying to promote piracy, but I want people to be able to personalize the RTM until the official release comes out. [editline]6th August 2012[/editline] Gonna be busy migrating all my shit over to Windows 8 Enterprise / Professional on my desktop if it comes to that, or I might just wait until October 26th and buy a copy.
That looks fantastic and... Usable. I think I'll definitely be upgrading.
You can no longer remove the side borders via the msstyles. Or anywhere for that matter :(

i already moved to linux, does that count? :<

Really like some of the new start screen patterns.
I've been wondering; have they added properties (such as size, date created, etc) for selected folders in the details pane?
I've been wondering; have they added properties (such as size, date created, etc) for selected folders in the details pane?
I haven't seen anything mentioned on the subject, and since there's several hundred to choose from it wouldn't be easy determining if one was new or not.

Say, does right clicking a tile in the start screen still bring up that menu at the bottom rather than a "normal" context menu?
Say, does right clicking a tile in the start screen still bring up that menu at the bottom rather than a "normal" context menu?
One could assume.
Say, does right clicking a tile in the start screen still bring up that menu at the bottom rather than a "normal" context menu?
That would be a design-style-that-must-not-be-named style context menu. Not going to comment too much before I actually try out the RTM, but I don't really like the way Microsoft is going about all this change. I think Windows Phone 7 has a very nice UI, and when they started bringing that (metro style) UI to the Xbox I found it to be a little bit weird. Now when they are bringing it to Windows, I find it very unappealing. Not really because Metro is bad, but the way it clashes and mixes in with the existing Windows UI makes it quite inconsistent and unfriendly. While at the same time, having the entirety of Windows 8 in Metro UI would also be unappealing. Mixed in with the fact that things optimized for a touch device now have to be adapted for mouse and keyboard are a little unappealing as well. Lastly, I still think iOS and Android will still dominate the tablet market, just like they dominate the phone market, so I don't see why Microsoft put all this effort into changing our Desktop OS into a tablet OS that will just be the underdog in the tablet world.
