Thanks for misinterpreting, what I meant was; I'm going to save myself by learning C# and even it takes 10 years to learn I'll dig myself out this hole at least I'm trying to come up with a solution to the problem I'm having. I'm not going to create a UI, but I can simulate in Flash to demonstrate a better idea. Why are you having a go at me, I didn't insult you. [editline]9th August 2012[/editline] I can't compile one, but I can demonstrate a better idea.
Cool, make the flash demonstration and I'll believe you. Remember, this should work both for touch and for desktop use and be efficient for both, for the largest part of people. Remember, you're a part of the few people that has actually tried out Windows and is simply incompatible with it. [editline]9th August 2012[/editline]
Hybrid boot never works for me. Only works when I force it from the command line
Maybe it has something to do with bootcamp? It amkes the process considerably faster, and it's already pretty fast.
It's possible. The Windows sound drivers aren't great... But sound's never been Windows' thing anyway. It's one of the reasons people use Macs for audio work, because their OS is written for that kind of thing.
I'm almost certain something is actually broken software wise noise. My phone plays significantly louder and better quality music than Windows 8 will on my laptop. Also the Music app refuses to work, and WMP won't add music to it's library. Having a whale of a time with sound here [editline]9th August 2012[/editline]
Maybe it has something to do with bootcamp?
Aha, gonna install W7 again, since there is no way to activate W8, I can't stand the watermark. Will buy this asap :D.
Just wait a couple days, there'll be a way to activate it again soon.
What?
Windows has high audio latency, which is a bit of a pain for sound production work. That and I think a lot of high end mixers are/were firewire rather than USB [editline]9th August 2012[/editline] I'm sure there are ways to mitigate the latency on Windows and stuff, but in my experience my Mac has been usable with my guitar, and Windows hasn't
If I have one good thing to say about Mac OS X, it's definitely the audio subsystem. Much better than Windows and Linux.
Why do people hate Metro so much? it's slick and efficient! [editline]9th August 2012[/editline] I just noticed that I wrote efficient wrong this whole time. EFFICIENT, not effecient.
Ok, I hate it because; it takes up the entire screen without needing to do so, I can't put as many icons on the screen as I'd like (and no, I don't use any of the metro things. I mean why have a metro media player program if it just takes up the entire screen to play music when I can use wmp?), I can't see the desktop in the background, I hate the way it looks, the boxes on the screen are bigger than they should be and you can't change the size so the icons are tiny and boxes are massive (Why?), I can't just right click on 'My computer' to bring up system management or the properties window, I can't just click on the bloody button to make start appear, there is no need for a metro version of IE on a desktop, the setting menu is a pain in the ass to get to, the metro gets in the way of my programs. It's for activities where you don't compromise anything by being in full screen like, as you said, listening to music. Why do you need the desktop for shit like that? If you actually are doing something productive, use the desktop. Thats what it's there for. What's wrong with having big tiles? As you've been told (and stubbornly ignored) MS did the maths and it's quicker to use than the start menu. Listen to the facts rather than spewing random bull with nothing toback it up and don't act as if you haven't been told anything. You can easily right click in the bottom right corner to get a list of power user programs in way less clicks. As for full screen IE, why the hell not? I bet most of the time you use your desktop browser you have it full screen like anyone else in the world. You lose no productivity this way. If you want it in a window, use the desktop version. Simple as that. I don't even know why i'm bothering. You're just going to ignore this like every other post aimed at you and continue talking unfounded dribble as fact. Heres an idea. Don't buy it. By all means get a Mac or use Linux and stop acting like you're being forced to use 8. Also, I had a go at you before because you were being a jerk, talking down to everyone, talking about what a super pro you were and calling everyone wrong, making out that you thought you were the only right person in the universe (the mentality of a child) even though there are other places with people who share your views. By all means, go to them.
I can't just right click on 'My computer' to bring up system management or the properties window
Yeah, that part takes getting used to. But you can right-click on the very bottom-left corner of the screen to get to system management.

Most of them are just rehashed arguments about "oh my god bring the start orb back" or "pro users like me aren't going to need this feature"

I never said I was some sort of super pro, I never meant to insult anyone, it's all rage at Microsoft. I'm just frustrated that no one was sharing my view in the thread, I'm not saying you're all wrong, I just want support (mostly because I believe that they should have the option for the old start menu, I mean XP had the option for an older start menu). It's the forcing people to use the metro that I have the problem with and it annoys me. You've made it clear that it's faster, fine, ok, whatever, but MS was ignored users like me and you have to understand how annoying that it. It's good that you like but I have problems with it. Windows 7 will become up supported and I'll be forced to use the metro if I want to use PC programs in the future. I never use my browser at full screen, I have windows all over the screen. To be honest I don't want to move to Mac or Linux. But ok, it's really just a supporters thread, I'll keep that in mind. The world is changing and I'm a stubborn 22 year old  .
Humans are biologically programmed to dislike changes!

How did you find that out by the way?
They are ignoring users like you because you aren't the major market. You're insisting that something's wrong, and you got pissed off, not because people said you were wrong, but because people said they liked it. Nobody is forcing you to use Metro, and windows 7 will be supported for ages. Look how long XP lasted. How about you go rage over at the microsoft forums, instead of bothering us with your "stop liking what I don't like"-mentality.
windows 7 will be supported for ages
This, very much. And there'll be reason to continue using 7, just like there was reason to keep using XP.

Robochimp, you still haven't given a reason why you don't like it that hasn't been debunked. You're blatantly just reacting to change like we all did at first. The difference is that the rest of us weren't too stubborn to change our views. Do you not see how frustrating that is? Changing the subject, I've only actually been using the start screen for Metro apps. All my main desktop apps are pinned to the taskbar. I've been finding it the cleanest way to go about it. I tried pinning them to the start screen but I couldn't get into the habit of using them.
The built in apps? You can reinstall them from the store. There's loads of other gems in there as well.
Then how do I reinstall the store :v:
How the hell did you even manage to uninstall the store?
How the hell did you even manage to uninstall the store?
I never did, but when I click it, the logo goes fullscreen, then it goes back to the start screen. :( [editline]9th August 2012[/editline] [t]http://localhostr.com/file/930/Bg6LpotMWlU6/que.png[/t] That's all I get.
What?
Forgive me, I hadn't slept in 24~ hours. I don't even know what I said. EDIT: So, you know what I really like about Windows 8? The ability to dock fullscreen apps to the sidebar while in the desktop view. I can finally have my Twitter client sitting right alongside whatever I'm doing, and never have to worry about it being covered with a window or losing focus or what have you.
I wish I had enough room on my SSD to make a partition for Windows 8 :v: I'm actually looking forward to their "Store" thing. I haven't read anything about it, but if it allows me to publish apps/games like the Mac store that will be awesome.

I tried it briefly, and so far I think it's a pain in the ass if you have multiple monitors, the charms bar is really awkward to use. However, the OS overall looks nice but I didn't find myself using the metro part that often, except when I'm searching for stuff.
