I wish I had enough room on my SSD to make a partition for Windows 8 :v: I'm actually looking forward to their "Store" thing. I haven't read anything about it, but if it allows me to publish apps/games like the Mac store that will be awesome.
It'd be better in my opinion if it allowed downloading and managing desktop applications.
I'll start by apologising, I probably wasn't clear and yes I was posting out of anger. I never said I was some sort of super pro, I never meant to insult anyone, it's all rage at Microsoft. I'm just frustrated that no one was sharing my view in the thread, I'm not saying you're all wrong, I just want support (mostly because I believe that they should have the option for the old start menu, I mean XP had the option for an older start menu). It's the forcing people to use the metro that I have the problem with and it annoys me. You've made it clear that it's faster, fine, ok, whatever, but MS was ignored users like me and you have to understand how annoying that it. It's good that you like but I have problems with it. Windows 7 will become up supported and I'll be forced to use the metro if I want to use PC programs in the future.I never use my browser at full screen, I have windows all over the screen. To be honest I don't want to move to Mac or Linux. But ok, it's really just a supporters thread, I'll keep that in mind. The world is changing and I'm a stubborn 22 year old  .
just, go
Anybody have a guide to installing Windows 8 through a flash drive? I just ordered a 32GB USB 3.0 drive to install from (I have one of the Pre B3 Sandy Bridge boards, so I can't use anything but my ssd and hard drive, meaning I can't install a Win8 DVD). I may be planning on putting Windows to Go on there afterwards, but that's for another day.
I tried it briefly, and so far I think it's a pain in the ass if you have multiple monitors, the charms bar is really awkward to use. However, the OS overall looks nice but I didn't find myself using the metro part that often, except when I'm searching for stuff.
I only use the charms bar when I'm shutting it down.
I only use the charms bar when I'm shutting it down.
I spend most of my time in metro so I use it all the time. I don't bother with the corners anymore. I just use keyboard shortcuts. Ctrl-C comes in so useful. Edit: Haha shit, I meant Start-C
I wish I had an SSD.
Get one, it's literally the best upgrade you could do to a computer in terms of "Making shit feel faster". I put on in my laptop, which is just some cheap refurbished Dell Latitude with a core 2 duo. It now feels massively faster than my gaming desktop with a Core 2 Quad and a GTX 560, except when you launch something like TF2 and then you need to bottom out the settings to get ~50 FPS. I wouldn't hesitate putting one in my desktop except the shitty motherboard in there doesn't have AHCI.

I have an SSD as my system drive but my board takes so long to POST, my girlfriend's laptop running 8 on a HDD actually boots faster.

Can one of you guys who have already installed W8 help me please, I can't fucking do it! http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1204482
Gonna install Windows 8 Enterprise-N RTM onto my main computer over the Release Preview it is currently running. Files are still being migrated to other harddrives as I speak. (First 3 monitors from the left are part of my main computer, the 4th monitor from the left is my HP desktop running Windows 8 Release Preview ((Gonna Upgrade that too)), and the far right is my laptop running Windows 8 Enterprise-N RTM) Also, for anyone who is bored enough to care, this is what my computer-corner looks like:
$500 speakers and two crt monitors. Really?
CRT's are still superior to LCD's when it comes to gaming.
CRT's are still superior to LCD's when it comes to gaming.
At least you don't have screen tearing issues. I don't like the curvature, though, it gives me a headache.

Go for Pro... (Not Core, Pro specifically!)

From the MDL forums
Here Is it..... [ How to Activate Aero In Windows 8 Build 9200 ] 1st - Right Click - Open Personalization - Select High Contrast White - Go Color Setting (keep the window open) 2nd - Move Your Mouse On Charm Bar - Setting - Personalization - Select Any Of Windows Default Themes. 3rd - In Your Color Setting ( 1st High Contrast Window ) Change The Color Of Background Windows a Little Bit. Apply.
Can someone w/ RTM confirm?
From the MDL forums Can someone w/ RTM confirm?
That's a weird workaround for turning on Aero. Besides, it sounds like a bug and they'll probably fix it at some point. I wouldn't get too attached to this method.

It gets pretty trippy if you move the window around enough.
From the MDL forums Can someone w/ RTM confirm?
http://thepanda-x.deviantart.com/#/d5ac75k Or you can set ColorizationGlassAttribute to 2 in the registry. It creates this effect inside the frames though so it's not worth it: http://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?http://michaelzanussi.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/ie_crash.png Blur is entirely gone in 8.
Interesting that they removed blur entirely. You'd think they'd leave it for the taskbar.
Blur is entirely gone in 8.
I wonder if this will bork up WindowsFX, the little utility that plays with animating windows like Compiz in Linux, it heavily uses glassyness for some of the effects, and blur, so if that got removed, they would have to recode it themselves.
Interesting that they removed blur entirely. You'd think they'd leave it for the taskbar.
Well if they're forcing DWM to always on, it's probably best to make it as light as possible and use as few resources as possible. I wish blur were still there but eh, some solution is bound to come along. I just hope the only solution isn't a Stardock subscription to WindowBlinds/SkinStudio
