my old I.T guy back in primary school said if you drop a CRT monitor - it would explode :tinfoil:
If i install a newer version of the preview builds over a previous one, will it transfer all my stuff without problems? [editline]12th August 2012[/editline] Keeping programs installed and such
my old I.T guy back in primary school said if you drop a CRT monitor - it would explode :tinfoil:
Nope, been there, done that. You drop a crt monitor from 3rd floor, nothing will happen. However when from 5th or more, it will just break and leak some weird smoke but it will NOT explode.

he probably told us that because the school got limited funding from the government and a CRT monitor being dropped wouldn't be a good thing.
But wouldn't the kids want to drop the monitors just to see them explode?
It was in grade 4, we were fucking petrified.
I had an old CRT of mine drop the top of a van, roughly a 1.5m drop The floor of the van was dented, the CRT was fine
We had two in storage that were dead from water damage. I took a sledge hammer to one. It actually took a few swings to break into the plastic alone (and yes, harder swings, not weak ones.) Those old shits are tough.
Is it me or are Source games broken in Windows 8? The models all seem to have holes in them and look corrupted.

I don't have any problems with source-based games here, Win8-RP. The only game I have problems with is Amnesia TDD, but that can be fixed by running it windowed
Is it me or are Source games broken in Windows 8? The models all seem to have holes in them and look corrupted.
No problems here. In fact, I've not had any problems other than how Mirror's Edge doesn't lock the cursor so I keep accidentally hitting the hot corners in game.
Just installed I know I'll get used to the interface but a lot of it feels a bit clunky until you adjust it
How are the AMD drivers? I'm considering installing this on my desktop, but if the drivers are shit, I'm not going to bother with it yet. I hear most people just use Windows 7 drivers. I've also heard that eyefinity settings don't stick with Windows 7 drivers though, so I don't have that option.

Decided to dualboot. From cold boot to desktop (including selecting my OS and logging in) takes right at 30 seconds. I really do wish it was already out so I could upgrade.
From a HDD or SSD?
HDD, forgot to mention that. I'd love to have a SSD to see how fast it'd be then.

Since I don't really have a reason to update yet, ill probably gonna wait for this release, or wait 1-2 months until people have come up with some tweaks.

It'd mean they could keep it feeling fresh and competitive while constantly ironing out all of it's little feature gaps where it just doesn't hold up against the competition. Just got Windows 8 Enterprise-N installed on my Main Desktop. If you look closely, you can notice that it is activated, and if you look even closer, you might decipher how I activated it. :P [t]http://i.imgur.com/OdtYg.jpg[/t] Just wanted to throw that out there.
Windows 8 is currently activatable.
Yea I heard!
Just wondering, but do they bar you out of the App Market if you have a dodgy activation key?
Well, if you link your microsoft account instead of using a local account, that might be a problem, it might also occur if it does a check against your microsoft account that you linked to the app store if you use a local account. I really don't know, but It doesn't terribly bother me since all I use my microsoft account for is downloading apps and Windows Live Messenger, not syncing data with Skydrive or anything like that. If it got compromised, I would just make a new account.
So what are the advantages of Enterprise, and should I bother getting that over Pro?
