May be a stupid question, but what iso are you installing with? The RTM iso I used to install looked nothing like that during set up.
It was the best one I could find torrenting. It's installed fine... I'm just trying to get it activated, that's the problem now. But I need to just be patient.
It might look so different from your installation because I ended up not installing from booting from the DVD. I noticed that it looked different...
EDIT: Build 9200, which is the latest released build right? Well... next to that one that JUST came out.
Depends. Which OS are you upgrading from?
I'm upgrading from 7
I just noticed that Dropbox is syncing corrupt files to my laptop with Windows 8 RP. Have anyone else experienced that?
The files on the Dropbox web service are fine, it just seems to fail at downloading the files.
nop my dropbox works fine @ win8 pro
nop my dropbox works fine @ win8 pro
Hmm. Don't know what is going on here then. I just hope it didn't re-sync any of the corrupt files. I'd better unhook this machine from Dropbox before anything really bad happens.

You get a big watermark saying activate now. It appeared in games for me. Luckily I have it activated now heh.
Can one activate Win8 anymore? I'm using an activation utility and have had it running all night on the small list of kms servers I've seen and it is yet to activate.
Any help?
They are all offline, I don't think there is any way to activate it atm. if you don't have a legit key.
You can get the Windows 8 evaluation copy though if you want to try it out, but remember that it stops working after 90 days so don't use it as a main os if you're not prepared to re-install in that time frame.

Thanks for the info. I hope they come back online soon (If ever D:). I'll stay with my current build of Win8 until there's a way to activate it. Not having it activated doesn't really affect me at the moment or from what I can notice. Just having a watermark and not being able to personalize a bit...
How do I get proper uptime in RP version? When I look it up in the task manager it says that the pc has ran a few days, even when I just booted.

cmd > "systeminfo"
then look for "system boot time"
Would it be best to switch to the 90-day evaluation copy: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/jj554510.aspx
or wait for a good method on activating Win8?
Edit: The evaluation copy seems like a bad idea... well... a worse idea..
Well, Recent Places in explorer still seems to not work properly.
Is it any start menu for windows 8 that can replace the important part from the w7 start menu?:
(All folders + "Marius" + pictures + documents + Computer + shut down (with options))

you can pin the folders, for power buttons use this: http://www.labnol.org/software/shutdown-restart-in-windows-8/20989/
In windows 7 u can only bin libraries, it isn't like that in windows 8?
edit: Or did you mean in the fullscreen menu? Because they take up a lot of space in the start menu (I'v tried)

You can pin folders.
You can also use Start8 to make the start menu smaller
With 14 folders it's gonna be a big space between the first and the last folder. In windows 7 it was perfect space. + everything stacked, which I liked. Can start8 make it stack more than 4 and 4?
I'm using Dropbox 1.5.10 on the Release Preview, and nothing bad so far. :)
I'm upgrading from 7
Upgrading from 7 will let you keep all programs, settings and data.
Posting this on Windows 8. Currently installing drivers, but everything looks allright so far. Even though the start menu is super zoomed in with Eyefinity it looks fine on my fourth monitor, so it's usable enough.
Guys, Dropbox isn't working for me. There is no context menu for me. Works for you?
Works fine for me.
Alright. My display driver keeps going out. It says something about my display driver stopping and being recovered. Anyone else getting this?

I got that a lot with my 6770 but I was using a beta driver for Windows 7. There's a final RTM driver out now, maybe that would help.
