Was the Win8 beta upgradable to Win8 final?
Was the Win8 beta upgradable to Win8 final?
No
Actually metro is probably a better looking UI than what they've done in ages. And it looks better than Aero and by far than Luna. If you have a strong love for overblotty visual themes then be free to say so, but there's no reason to say that metro looks crap. Because you feel it needs at least a few lens flares.
Contrary to popular belief, I like Aero in Windows 7/8. At least Aero looks modern, and it's pretty customizable with color choices, transparency, and color saturation.
Welcome to 2012, where netbooks are still being sold with 1GB of DDR2 and single core 32-bit atom processors.
You're pretty much proving my point.
You're pretty much proving my point.
What I was trying to say with my statement was that Windows 7 might RUN on a netbook with those horrid specs, but it won't run very quickly, and forget about doing any complicated tasks with any multitasking. Just loading up Photoshop on a 1GB netbook like the one I have is just impractical.

yeah, it's a netbook. As in meant for internet browsing. Not fucking Photoshop.
And why the fuck would you buy a netbook for photoshop?
It was a gift. I photoshop daily. but it's a bitch with only 1GB of ram, and I'll NEVER go back to XP. I only keep XP around for fixing shit PCs of other people.
Am I the only that can't wait for the 29th?
Yes. Because when it hits, everyone is going to try to download it and you know what happens then.
Yes. Because when it hits, everyone is going to try to download it and you know what happens then.
Everybody gets Windows 8 Consumer Preview. [sp]Your download will finish some time in May.[/sp]

According to PCBeta WEI's ceiling is now apparently 9.9.
According to PCBeta WEI's ceiling is now apparently 9.9.
Hopefully it doesn't rate you based on your lowest score anymore.
Hopefully it doesn't rate you based on your lowest score anymore.
It's made to spot bottlenecks and such, and even if it does, you can look at the other scores. Even then, it's made for fairly computer illiterate people, so if it works for them, it's fine.

It just doesn't seem right to rate a system because of its lowest score.
Just highlight the bottlenecks on the all scores view. It just doesn't seem right to rate a system because of its lowest score.
Well yeah it does, especially for games etc. If you had a really fast graphics card but you've got a shit CPU, it doesn't make it somewhere in the middle in terms of performance, it'd be only limited by the processor. It's also a good way to explain to people how to upgrade their computer, since changing the worst component would effect the score the most.
Just highlight the bottlenecks on the all scores view. It just doesn't seem right to rate a system because of its lowest score.
Well, if you think about it, it's not that stupid. If you're running a task which utilizes ALL sytem resources, your bottleneck is going to decide how fast you're going. Of course that's not representative of real-life applications, but that would be biased as well. [editline]27th February 2012[/editline] Go away.
Just highlight the bottlenecks on the all scores view. It just doesn't seem right to rate a system because of its lowest score.
It doesn't really matter at all what score it rates you though. It doesn't affect anything.
It doesn't really matter at all what score it rates you though. It doesn't affect anything.
I'm sure Zedicus Mann is aware of that. I think they should just do away with the system score.
I'm sure Zedicus Mann is aware of that. I think they should just do away with the system score.
It's useful if you plan on upgrading. See what's the lowest, upgrade that. For the not so tech savvy at least.
It would look better.
That's ten times better. The solid color thing is just trash.
That's ten times better. The solid color thing is just trash.
Once again I say, I don't think they would ditch the iconic 4 colors, the plain blue color could only be for the consumer preview, the full OS will feature the full colored thing. I think. (It makes sense though)
It's useful if you plan on upgrading. See what's the lowest, upgrade that.
You can do this without having a system score. Just look at what the lowest number is.
Once again I say, I don't think they would ditch the iconic 4 colors, the plain blue color could only be for the consumer preview, the full OS will feature the full colored thing. EDIT: Then again it's MS, maybe what they meant is 'This is the logo but we'll have 100 variations of it'.
Today I checked out developer's preview. Meh. Looks like it's same 7 with Metro and new task manager. Nothing really useful for me.
You can do this without having a system score. Just look at what the lowest number is.
Oh I thought you meant the WEI altogether.
September 13-16: Build conference. Build 8201 release to developers.
You need to fix the build number in the OP, it should be 8102, not 8201.
You need to fix the build number in the OP, it should be 8102, not 8201.
I can't tell you how many times I've done that.
