Asus are awesome in every aspect but not when it comes to showing support for my soundcard. LAME. I installed Windows 8 without upgrading the first time :S.
After accepting the license I just get this: Which implies that it's upgrade only. The next step after that is install, I don't feel like risking it. [editline]23rd August 2012[/editline]
That would mean you would have to boot a linux live CD, format the drive with it, and then boot from the Windows8 USB Stick and install it? Why would they do this?
Because Microsoft is shit apparently. Leave it to them to half-ass their way through development. I can format, delete, and create a new partition, it just gives me an error when I click install. Windows can't install to this drive, etc, here's more information: series of numbers. After a bit of Googling around it seems my only solution to circumvent this vague error, is to unplug all of my other hard drives, then try again. Honestly, it's not worth the fucking effort to open up my computer and start unplugging shit, just to install some shit OS.
Pressing nothing = fresh install. Read the "Help me decide" And I installed Windows 8 via my 300GB harddrive connected via USB. So installning from USB works. The second install were an upgrade.

When does it ask you what drive to install to? I went on with it and it skipped that step. Nothing is the wrong answer:
Nothing. Delete everything and replace your current version with a copy of Windows 8. Your personal files will be moved to a windows.old folder.
I want to install to another drive, Microsoft you fucking fucks.

Had to unplug my data HDD, and my SSD with linux to get it to work. [editline]23rd August 2012[/editline]
I wish Microsoft didn't fuck with the setup. How does the setup decide on wich Harddisk it should install the OS? Thats bullshit.
I had that error too while installing windows 8 on my Hardrive#3.
Well this is just great. I'm fucking glad I didn't have to pay to get 8. I won't install via DVD/USB and if you run from Windows 7 it only allows you to upgrade and not a fresh install. Sticking with 7 I guess.
I'm fairly sure that has been the default behaviour since forever, I've never seen an option to do a fresh install when booting the installer from inside Windows.
I'm fairly sure that has been the default behaviour since forever, I've never seen an option to do a fresh install when booting the installer from inside Windows.
Click on advanced or whatever its called, and then it gives you a list of partitions, to install the OS to.
Then again, the last time I've launched a Windows installation from inside Windows is... fucking forever ago.
I'm fairly sure that has been the default behaviour since forever, I've never seen an option to do a fresh install when booting the installer from inside Windows.
I did it with the leak just fine that used the old installer. And with Vista and 7 previously.
Wait, I was able to select drives just fine from the MSDN leak. I assume the MSDNAA one would be the same, no? I fixed the error pressing install by restarting my PC, which was odd but worked.

Later I'll just torrent Pro x64 and run it instead.
Do I need a Dreamspark premium account to download Windows 8?
Any way to stop syncing your desktop wallpaper across your computers? I've tried to make one computer select "Unsynced Theme" and the other "Synced Theme" but I guess those names mean jack cause the wallpaper got synced anyway
Does Dreamspark give you a windows 8 key or just an upgrade iso? Need to hunt to see if my University has DSP.

I don't know for certain if wallpaper is there, but I'm pretty sure it is, or at least theme.
Just got the RP iso, but for some reason the native Win 7 burn tool says invalid iso and so does the USB tool. Does anyone know what could be causing this? I redownloaded it already.
Anyone got Guild wars 2 working on Windows 8?
Anyone got Guild wars 2 working on Windows 8?
I ran it fine earlier, better than W7 to be honest.
I ran it fine earlier, better than W7 to be honest.
My launcher just isn't appearing! Gonna try the RTM.

Hate me for this but I actually really like the new logo. And metro.

More like a font change with some coloured squares next to it.
It's different, so it sucks.
I like it better than Metro's slanted logo, but it's not as good looking as the microsoft flag
Honestly, I find it to be better than the old one by far:

One thing they should do is put in a dialogue box that comes up over most games (DirectX) if you press the windows key rather than have it minimise the game if you press the key by accident
