http://blog.chron.com/techblog/2008/07/average-time-to-infection-4-minutes/
Although, a direct connection (without even a router) is not as common these days. Most ISPs now provide modems that double as routers.
Not being able to pin two different metro apps, each on one of my monitors is starting to piss me off.
Here's a great idea: don't use Metro apps! Just treat this as Windows 7 SP2 like I do. Metro was designed for tablets, which don't have fancy things like dual monitors.
Yeah, but they're just meant to rake in lots of dosh from Windows RT/Phone users. Metro on the desktop was a sad afterthought.
no, since video drivers aren't up to par compared to Windows 7 drivers
The nvidia drivers seem fine to me.
Just installed Windows 8 RTM VIA Dreamspark Seeing as my old windows 7 installation broke my windows key, middle mouse button, start button, steam, explorer.exe, and other stuff this is 50x better
Right I have Dreamspark offered through my Uni. How do I go about installing Windows 8 through it?
Also an album of screenies: http://imgur.com/a/ycPD2 I made this application in 5 days only. I wanted to take a different approach to Metro and Windows 8 in this Windows 8 Hackathon. Tell me how I did. Also if you can:
Please go here and vote! 50% of the voting system is public opinion for this hackathon! Takes 1 second. So today my mom accidentally turned on my pc which is running Windows 8, but doesn't know anything at all about computers so she couldn't find the shut down button :v:
What's happening to tech support nowadays? :(
It's always been a bit shit. It's just today they can throw it at you faster and harder with untrained workers reading scripts. Welcome to Tier1 support. It gets better if you can escalate it some how.
"Online Concierge" Is this one of those meaningless titles that are supposed to make whoever feel better about their job? :v: [editline]24th August 2012[/editline] Maybe some of you would enjoy this: http://winaero.com/comment.php?comment.news.103
Nice, I wanted to be able to go straight to desktop.
Do you know if that works with the RP?

Skip Metro Suite for Windows 8 allows you to boot directly to Classic Desktop in Windows 8 RTM and Release Preview.
Probably
Probably
Oh, I missed that. Thanks! I never have a use for the auto popup feature because I mainly use key shortcuts
I absolutely despised the rounded gummy edges on windows 7. I'm so glad they ditched them.
The best Aero was in the Consumer Preview of 8. Had square corners, looked nice, and still had blur.
I'm trying to delete my Windows.old folder but every single time I get some sort of error or message that is like "access is denied." I have tried pretty much all methods I could find. Please help? EDIT: NEVERMIND! My computer is dumb as hell and I needed to boot in safe mode... which even that was confusing at first. Idk if it's my bios... but I cant boot into safe mode AT ALL. I have to do the msconfig way.

(That hotkey has nothing to do with your BIOS.) They've provided a new way to reboot into safe mode in the Metro settings panel, but I forget exactly where it is.

Even if I do an unproper shutdown, it still doesnt give me the option...
You can still boot into safe mode with msconfig

Wasn't it something like hold shift and press reboot?
Question. Does Windows 8 support software RAID? If so which editions and what types of RAID?
Man, getting so many permission issues and having a real hard time activating the RTM edition.
