How does the Windows 8 RTM work and what's different from the RP and the final version?

So the UI can be kept like normal windows(win7) or not
So the UI can be kept like normal windows(win7) or not
Short answer: Not.
Saw your thread on reddit, add me on Steam and I'll hook you up with the correct iso.
It's alright, I installed the trial version to hold me off until tomorrow.
so im looking to download it but every-time I do the ISO is corrupt, there was a actual downloader that worked for me before I wiped out my harddrive, but now its unfindable
You know, they sure changed alot of UI elements last-minute between Release Preview and RTM... Changes that should have been implemented back in Alpha or Beta stages of development... Taking away Aero blur was such a last-minute dick move to those of us who like it.
I am not acquiring this, the UI looks like a confusing blob of crap.
I am not acquiring this, the UI looks like a confusing blob of crap.
Cool. Now, how about you try it out or stop talking out your ass?
I've been using it long enough on my laptop that I don't really care anymore. Though if there is a stable hack that would let me use transparency and still be usable (e.g. Having some background for title text), I wouldn't hesitate installing it.
Doubt it but do anyone have Asus Xonar DX with working CP? Would easily gift a game to the one who can post a working solution (if possible).
I do, it works fine with the default drivers.
So your MCP works absolutely great in Windows 8, it loads and you can change between 7.1 and Stereo? For me and other (google) it doesn't load under Windows 8, drivers works fine, so I can use Stereo but can't change any settings due to panel not loading. [sp]Read my request again[/sp]
The Xonar control panel functions perfectly on my machine.
Which edition of Windows 8 do you have? You basically just installed the drivers from Asus website and the MCP loaded? [editline]21st September 2012[/editline] Oh ok, damnit. I wonder why it doesn't load for me :(.
Oh I'm running W8 RTM Enterprise, maybe it stopped working in RTM. [editline]21st September 2012[/editline] There may be a solution! Some guy modded the drivers to work with W8! [editline]21st September 2012[/editline] WOW, it WORKED! I how have MCP. I love this guy. So if you ever run into problems Amiga when upgrading to RTM (if you do). This is the guy that shows more support than Asus themself. http://danielkawakami.blogspot.com [editline]21st September 2012[/editline] Oh god, how I've missed Dolby Headphones <3.
Is anyone else having problems with their OS drive freezing up? I'm not sure if it's windows fucking up, my SSD dying or my drivers messing up. When i look at it in the task manager, it just goes up to 100% activity, and everything stops responding. I don't get a BSOD, but I have to restart by holding the power button anyway. I thought I had resolved it when i moved the swap to one of my other drives, but when I got back to my computer this morning it was frozen again. I tried to log in, and it just got stuck at the welcome screen. I ran a test with Crystal disk mark, and the results seemed fine. I also ran Crystal disk info, and the disk was apparently fine. I've already tried swapping SATA cables, so that's not the issue. The SSD is a Corsair F60 (first gen SF-1200 drive) with firmware 2.0. My motherboard is an Asus P8Z68, revision 3 (so it should not have SATA issues).
Turns out my SSD is dead. I can't even boot now, and half the time it doesn't even get detected by the motherboard.
Turns out my SSD is dead. I can't even boot now, and half the time it doesn't even get detected by the motherboard.
Ehh, what kind of SSD are we talking? I had a period where my SSD would act up, as it wasn't in AHCI mode - each time it would work for a period of time, until it would suddenly not get detected, and it would only reappear upon a CMOS reset. I got pissed of and got it set to AHCI - haven't had a problem since.

The SSD is a Corsair Force series 60GB (CSSD-F60GB2-BRKT is the SKU) or something. It's like the second generation of SF-1200 SSD from Corsair. It's almost two years old now. Seems a little early for it to die though. If I remember correctly, Crystal disk info said it only had like 3TB host writes (enough to fill the drive 50 times). If SSDs really have as many write cycles as advertised, it should have lasted much longer than that. Maybe it died so quickly because I've been running it with less than 10GB free space for such a long time. 60GB isn't really that much when like 7% is reserved for spare area, and windows takes up like 20GB. Add in Office and some Adobe software, and it's starting to get full already.

It failed every time I used it, so I don't rely on it.)
I think he's talking about the 4GB of overprovisioning. 4 GB / 60 GB = 6.667%
Yeah, that's what I was referring to. Anyway, I ordered a Samsung 830 256GB. Apparently those things are reliable. I'm not going down that high performance path with sandforce again. That extra speed doesn't help too much when it stops working :v: On a sidenote, SSDs have gotten a lot cheaper in two years time. A 256GB SSD would have cost over half the price of my rig two years ago.
Huh? The backup is so you don't lose data.
All of my critical data is already synced to my 23GB Dropbox account, so I don't have anything critical on my PCs that I can't simply reinstall later.
