Maybe wrong on this but I was under the impression that it was sort of bootstrapped on.
Welcome to Microsoft
Welcome to Microsoft
which again reiterates my point that all these nice features and tech do matter to the consumers, even if they don't know what they are or understand them. After all all these said consumers can often communicate why they chose a Mac over a PC (and their reasons would be technical-less explanations of things like "better security, faster usage, etc") heck even PC OEM's advertise solely on specs (look at how much consumers are convinced ram is the most important PC part) [editline]28th September 2012[/editline]
Maybe wrong on this but I was under the impression that it was sort of bootstrapped on.
everything is bootstrapped on when it comes to Windows, like I think even 64 bit support and some other extremely vital components are pretty much tacked on or not low level, and aren't as good as if it were like how Linux or OSX did it.

I probably missed it, though has anyone seen what Notch said about Windows 8? Letting other people take care of the game/company was the best thing he ever did... "Got an email from microsoft, wanting to help "certify" minecraft for win 8. I told them to stop trying to ruin the pc as an open platform." and "I'd rather have minecraft not run on win 8 at all than to play along. Maybe we can convince a few people not to switch to win 8 that way.." What the fuck? Microsoft isn't going to just dump desktop applications and only allow you to purchase applications from for the PC through their own store. Though it's funny to see articles like this Neoseeker article that get it completely wrong and flat out say that Minecraft won't run on Windows 8 based on those two tweets.
Oh wow, Minecraft actually doesn't run on my laptop on Windows 8 RP, but it has something to do with the shitty Intel HD drivers.
I probably missed it
Has been like 2 threads in new section and several others hehe. He's being incredibly ignorant and needs to shut the fuck up.
Maybe he's referring to the ARM changes, in which case you'd be that person. The whole certification thing is bullshit to begin with, so I don't know who's more ignorant here. EDIT: I'm not even talking about App store lock-in. The whole certification process is a money racket. Pay up or your company will see less sales because your products aren't certified.

He thinks Windows 8 has turned into some walled garden when it's exactly the same as every previous version of Windows. If he was talking about ARM he would have said Windows RT. What makes him ignorant is his passing off of the app store as something that would require too much work to get certification for. Rafael Rivera showed that plain ol' Minecraft passed Desktop App certification with minor warnings. He's not going to go for it and miss out on a HUGE market. His loss.
Notch is an idiot. He's being incredibly ignorant and needs to shut the fuck up.
Alternately, we can let the man speak his mind, and stop revering him as a god and taking his every word as fact... Although yes, he is an idiot. I'll give you that.
I find it hilarious that he spent time putting it onto the xbox, which is about as walled garden as it gets, and then decided to pull this.
i have a big issue after installing the latest windows version in my computer and setting my resolution for some reason everything is too big scaled ,i went to resolution settings and it says "your resolution is less than 1280x1024 some elements in the screen may be occluded" but this confuses me as in resolution it shows 1600x900 i cant click apply or accept help please [editline]29th September 2012[/editline] nevermind just fixed it
Well I think I am going to move over to 8 now. I know I can stick metro on my smaller screen I use mostly to watch videos on so it should all be good.

It looks like skypekit (which is now being maintained by microsoft) does not work on windows 8! [editline]2nd October 2012[/editline] Unless trillian has some horrible coding causing it to crash but I just want to blame microsoft on this one.
something is just deleting things from the recycle bin seconds after they are put in. also a uninstall went horribly wrong and now it is at the point where it would just be simpler to reinstall and never ever do a upgrade again belvedere was causing all the problems. It did not like the switch from 7 to 8 AT ALL and just went fucking crazy. [editline]3rd October 2012[/editline] Skypkit will work under win7 compatibility so thats working again. too bad i still need fucking skype to make phone calls what were they thinking when they did this
Well I'm back in Windows 7, and it sure feels nice having my Start Menu and Aero back. About the only thing I miss is the shorter boot times... But now I can play Minecraft without Windows being a cunt. :D Also, 7zip 9.28 Alpha can now update WIM files, which I find extremely useful. :)

Argh! Keep getting this annoying message on my RTM install. I haven't done anything with Windows Backup, and this error started yesterday evening when I plugged in my USB stick to watch a movie and it kept saying I had no access to the USB stick and had to change it in the "Security" tab. (There is no "Security" tab on a USB stick properties.) Halp? EDIT: Seems it's related to Windows To Go. However I do not use this and have no USB sticks connected. Guys, what kind of cloud services do you use? I'm planning on buying a plan. Dropbox gives me 200GB but their client doesn't work for me in Windows 8. Box.com gives only 50GB and their does work for me. But paying the same amount for only 50.. I don't know. What other good services are there?
You're trying to base what cloud software you want to use on Windows 8 before it's even been released. Obviously Dropbox will work soon when the developers update it for Windows 8
