Are you on RP or RTM? Dropbox works fine for me on RP.
RTM
Dropbox works fine for me on RTM.
That's good, to bad it doesn't work for me, I'm not the only one luckily.
Well maybe you should tell us exactly what doesn't work (error message? won't install? silently fails to upload?) so that we can help you fix it. Because it's still probably the best cloud storage service right now. EDIT: If you want an alternative though, try Google Drive. As a side note, the only services Titanium Backup supports are Dropbox, Box, and Google Drive. So they're like the three best.
I get no contextual menu. Box.com's client works but they offer so little GB while Dropbox offer 200GB. Btw, if you have a premium account you get 200GB in bandwidth, how likely are you to waste that? I think it's 200GB in daily limit. Is there a way to monitor it? But as you said, it's probably worth to wait. Google's client doesn't give me contextual menu either, nor does Skydrives haha.

You mean from the notification icon (lower right of screen)? I get that sometimes for all notification icons on Windows 8, but restarting usually fixes it. EDIT: At least you can control SkyDrive from Metro. It sucks that the other clients don't have an actual dialog box. EDIT: What type of graphics do you have? Card or chip? I have an Intel graphics chip, and I think the drivers (WDDM 1.1) might be causing the problem.

I have a 680. Another user had the same problem on their forum so I guess I gotta wait.

(I do have a SkyDrive Pro menu, but it's greyed out since I don't subscribe to SkyDrive Pro.)
So I have been running the RTM for the past month or so and I am absolutely loving it. The only problem I have is that explorer likes to restart on its own, I am not sure what causes it as it happens completely random. It could happen when I open a folder, or it could do it while Im just on the desktop. Anybody else experience this or is it just me?
Your explorer is probably corrupted or something, I don't know. It should be stable.
Yeah I should probably do a repair install. I ran an sfc /scannow and it said it was all jolly good so I wasn't sure.
You should nuke it from orbit, just to be sure.
dban can help with that

If anyone has a computer with switchable graphics units between Intel integrated and the AMD chip and were waiting on working switching for Windows 8, the time has come: lescatlabs have finally published a build that works with 8 (be sure to get the newest v0.5): http://leshcatlabs.net/index.php/2012/09/catalyst-12-9-sep4-unifl-public-testing-for-atiintel-graphics/ I'm finally back to getting >9 hours of battery on my laptop and being able take advantage of my 6770m when needed.
Is this going to have multiple versions like the previous two? Like Windows 8 Home Prenium, Windows 8 Professional and Windows 8 Ultimate? Please tell me I'm wrong.
Is this going to have multiple versions like the previous two? Like Windows 8 Home Prenium, Windows 8 Professional and Windows 8 Ultimate? Please tell me I'm wrong.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_8_editions
Windows 8 Windows 8 is the basic edition of Windows for the x86 and x86-64 architectures. This edition contains features aimed at the home market segment and provides all of the basic new, Windows 8 features including the Start screen with semantic zoom, live tiles, Windows Store, Internet Explorer 10, connected standby, Microsoft account integration, the Windows desktop and more. Windows 8 Pro Windows 8 Pro succeeds Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate[2][3] and is targeted towards enthusiasts and business users; it includes all the features of Windows 8. Additional features include operating as a Remote Desktop server, the ability to participate in a Windows Server domain, Encrypting File System, Hyper-V, and Virtual Hard Disk Booting, Group Policy as well as BitLocker and BitLocker To Go. Windows Media Center functionality will be available only for Windows 8 Pro as a free "add-on."[3] Windows 8 Enterprise Windows 8 Enterprise provides all the features in Windows 8 Pro (except the ability to install the Windows Media Center add-on), with additional features to assist with IT organization (see table below).[2] This edition is available to Software Assurance customers, as well as MSDN and Technet Professional subscribers, and was released on August 16, 2012.[4] Windows RT Windows RT will only be available pre-installed on ARM-based devices such as tablet PCs,[5] and was named for the Windows Runtime (WinRT) development platform that Microsoft is introducing in Windows 8.[5] It will include touch-optimized desktop versions of the basic set of Office 2013 applications to users—Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, and support device encryption capabilities. Several business-focused features such as Group Policy and domain support are not included. Unlike Windows Vista and Windows 7, there are no Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, or Ultimate editions.[6]
I'm playing the "Georgia Stock Market Game" where you have 100,000 imaginary dollars to invest in the stock market. I was considering investing in Microsoft whether short-selling or buying. Do you guys think Microsoft's stock will go down (due to poor reception of Windows 8) or up (due to good reception or total indifference/technical ignorance)?

Their desktop revenue will probably stay about the same (because most sales of Windows are through OEMs, not retail customers directly). But I think they might be really successful in the tablet market too now.
This is so annoying. I plugged in a USB keyboard into my tablet and now it's set it as the default input device...even though it's unplugged. I constantly have to go into keyboard settings and tell it to use the OSK. And of course, there's no option to set the touch keyboard as default. Fuck you, Microsoft. The PC Settings section is horribly unfinished even in the RTM.

Wonder if they will stick with Metro or not. Seeing how fast Windows 8 is, it's gonna be really interesting to see how fast W9 gets.
I can't bring up Settings anymore - I get the message "Theres a problem with PC Settings. Refreshing your PC might fix that." But when I go to refresh, it says I need installation media. I installed through dreamspark premium. Tips?
Are you saying I shouldn't refresh?
It's up to you, I was just pointing out how silly Windows is when it comes to something not working like that.
It's up to you, I was just pointing out how silly Windows is when it comes to something not working like that.
Well yeah, Windows could improve a lot if you could fix somewhat-serious things without reinstalling/"refreshing" (I don't know what refresh is, just tried Windows 8 Consumer Preview :v: )
How much faster is Windows 8 compared to Windows 7 besides the boot times?
How much faster is Windows 8 compared to Windows 7 besides the boot times?
Besides general OS operations being a bit more responsive in some cases, it's pretty much the same. It's not like installing 8 is going to magically cut your game/photoshop load times in half or anything, that's what SSDs are for. That being said, 8 is still smarter with resource management, including almost 0 idle CPU usage even on weak machines and slightly better memory usage.
So a high end PC wouldn't benefit very much.
