Snap your mail app to the right side of your right monitor. Open the start screen on your left monitor. Why the hell does this happen?
Yeah, that's a load of ass but no major OS ever has much support for dual screens. It would probably take a load of work to get metro working on both screens and it's not really worth it considering how few people actually use two screens and that most of them will just use the desktop for them anyway. Think instead about how awesome the improvements to the desktop on two screens are. That's totally badass.
So I asked this a while ago, but I didn't get a clear response. Is it possible to install Windows 8 RTM on both my desktop and my laptop with just one key?

Microsoft's known for being heavily against piracy, why would they allow you to use one license for multiple machines? [editline]11th October 2012[/editline] By the way, an alternative to Start8: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/158666-start-is-back/
Wait a sec.. Can't I just 'buy' these two, the install one on my desktop, the other on my laptop?
Yup, I got 4 licenses from Dreamspark that way. 32 and 64 bit versions were separate licenses and the English and Finnish version also had their own licenses.

Sweeet, thanks. [editline]11th October 2012[/editline] Ahw...
Hi Try with English 32 bit. It should work because 32 and 64bit keys are the same.
What? If they're the same, it won't work. Also, I don't want 32bit on my 64bit laptop.
It is few different from Windows 7 and looking like Linux (Great look and features)
What? If they're the same, it won't work. Also, I don't want 32bit on my 64bit laptop.
I mean it doesn't matter. I have installed and activated an English 32bit key in a Windows 8 Pro x64. Also try with other languages. I have 4 keys from Dreamspark and they are interchangeable (ENG 32bit, ENG 64 bit, ESP 32 bit, ESP 64 bit)
french keys also activate all versions of windows I can confirm as I have a french key used on my laptop and it's still in perfect english
It is few different from Windows 7 and looking like Linux (Great look and features)
Tell me, what does linux look like? [editline]11th October 2012[/editline]
french keys also activate all versions of windows I can confirm as I have a french key used on my laptop and it's still in perfect english
can't you just install a seperate language pack and use it
well if you have a standard english ISO the french key will still work with that but y'know probably, assuming you can understand french enough to navigate the system
Tell me, what does linux look like?
You can make it look like anything you want. Seriously.
well if you have a standard english ISO the french key will still work with that but y'know probably, assuming you can understand french enough to navigate the system
it's probably muscle memory for most people or a simple case of Google
well i used to think if you know where to click you should be good, but man one time I set my zune to spanish before I took spanish in high school and that was a nightmare
I can navigate websites in japanese just because of design standards :v: bigger button is always login, smaller is signup Plain hyperlink is password retrieval etc.
and the translate button is the magic button for culturally insensitive assholes like me [editline]11th October 2012[/editline] is there a way to have the all apps screen more easily accessible than right clicking an app on metro
You can make it look like anything you want. Seriously.
That's why I secretly fear linux. Sometimes i get in an endless loop of desktop customization :v:
bitch don't know about my bash terminal mostly because I just use linux for commandline c++ programming
bitch don't know about my bash terminal mostly because I just use linux for commandline c++ programming
zsh > bash > powershell > CMD On Windows 8 I really like powershell, but its still crappy compared to Zsh/bash.
is there a way to have the all apps screen more easily accessible than right clicking an app on metro
with some keyboard shorcurts Win+Q if you are in the Desktop Win+Z and press Enter if you are in Start Screen
So, I went and tried using the 32bit Dreamspark key with the 64bit ISO. It works! Now I don't have to buy a copy for my laptop! And with this guide, I can play Minecraft with my GMA 4500MHD: http://www.neowin.net/news/how-to-install-legacy-intel-hd-graphics-drivers-on-windows-8 In my case, I got the 64bit Windows 7 Drivers from Intel's site and did that modification. Seemed to work. Now I can get rid of my Windows 7 partition. Wooo. EDIT: Holy crap. Without dualbooting Windows 7, Windows 8 starts in about 12 seconds. My laptop only has SATA2!
EDIT: Holy crap. Without dualbooting Windows 7, Windows 8 starts in about 12 seconds. It's because Windows 8 uses a hybrid shut down mode, where it uses hibernation to store system kernel state (but not open applications).
Anyone know how to re-enable a start-button for the main taskbar that goes to the Start screen? I want something like what I already got on my DisplayFusion taskbars on my other monitors, just need a start button for my main one.
Found this to be rather interesting: http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1081755-do-you-like-or-hate-windows-8/page__st__435__p__595048551#entry595048551
microsoft sent me all the shit about the new office and promotions and upgrade infomation when it starts ends how its going to work etc. Yeah, 2013 is worth it buying it outright, don't do the 365 shit. And they give a long enough time frame to upgrade atleast. My windows 8 training from them was just so laughable.
good god that feeling when you have metro and your desktop matched in color scheme and sexy as FUARK

So, you've installed the 64bit W8 RTM on two computers, then activated one with the 64bit key, and the other with a 32bit key?
