Here's a proper review from non apple fanboys.
Buying the 32GB model and then a 64GB SDXC card could be a pretty viable solution. The inclusion of Office RT is also pretty compelling, but still, I'd rather have a Surface Pro, even if the battery life is going to suffer.
ooh i didn't know windows RT had a traditional desktop, i though it was metro only interest increased by 100%
ooh i didn't know windows RT had a traditional desktop, i though it was metro only interest increased by 100%
Yeah but Microsoft doesn't allow third-party apps for it
even if they did allow them, there are still no arm apps at all
ooh i didn't know windows RT had a traditional desktop, i though it was metro only interest increased by 100%
You cant do much on the RT desktop
For what the RT intends to do, you don't really need unlicensed 3rd party apps.
Actually you can, there is a replacement for the win32 API, you CAN build software for the desktop on it! [editline]24th October 2012[/editline] What it doesn't have is backwards compatibility.
nope, no extra desktop apps
here are all desktop mode apps windows rt has (and that doesn't even have 'show administrative tools' enabled - there may be more).
Powershell and Command Prompt? huh
can't wait for photoshop.bat
Powershell and Command Prompt? huh
You have pretty much all the funtionality of the old Windows in there, it's really what kind of seperates RT from the likes of Android and iOS. It's not a "full" computer, but it's closer than the others are.
Goddamn I keep being swayed back and forth between the Thinktab 2 and the Surface. Actually considering the RT now, because of the smaller price :v: [editline]24th October 2012[/editline] 479 with touch is still pretty expensive though :/
I've posted on the Windows 8 RP forums with a question; http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-windows_install/my-windows-7-installation-has-a-junction-link-for/35d36849-3c42-419b-a4f5-bea1d0788026 Would any of you know?
It *should*, but you might have to re-junction after upgrade.
That might be an issue, because I only have about 10 GB left on my SSD.
If I spend the $40 for the upgrade to Windows 8 pro, is there a way I can get my install to format the drive? Or remove all my programs and whatnot?
Powershell and Command Prompt? huh
What's wrong with them?
If I spend the $40 for the upgrade to Windows 8 pro, is there a way I can get my install to format the drive? I'm guessing you'll have to insert your current Win7 key into the site, and it gives you a windows 8 key, along with an ISO. But maybe it's like an upgrade only key or something.
Heads up: Skype for Windows 8 is now available in the store, don't have a HTTP link but it's on the front page
What's wrong with them?
Just didn't expect to find them on Windows RT is all
This might be late, but... How to make [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/e628H.png[/IMG_thumb] look like [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/UvkgP.png[/IMG_thumb] Here is the download. It contains OblyTile v0.8, all needed Microsoft Office metro (modern) .png's, and instructions how to do it as well as the default system directories to save you a bit of time. :)
Aww, I can't drag-and-drop stuff into metro apps.
Heads up: Skype for Windows 8 is now available in the store, don't have a HTTP link but it's on the front page
Holy shit, it doesn't suck.
Holy shit, it doesn't suck.
It sucks for me. It doesn't work, it just hangs at the splash screen before saying "Oops..there was a problem"
Heads up: Skype for Windows 8 is now available in the store, don't have a HTTP link but it's on the front page
Skype without all the annoying crap. Awesome.
