N'aw I'm so glad everyone's getting on and loving Windows again!

I was wondering if the keys you get from MSDN will work for longer than two years?
Can't seem to find the answer.
Yeah... it just bugs me. I feel like since it's using more memory that it's performing worse and I'm really big on having my PC perform as best as it possibly can, because I don't have much of a computer anymore.
When Windows is using more memory, it will run faster. Windows will automatically free up that memory when an application requests more.
Yeah I'd only be worried if the memory usage is consistently hitting 90% or something
How can I most efficient do this:
I have:
- Sata 2 SSD 60GB w/ OS W7 and stuff that must be on the c: drive
- Sata 3 SSD 128GB w/Games
- HDD 1TB w/ everything els
I want:
- Sata 3 SSD 128GB w/ OS W8 and some games
- HDD 1TB with a boost from the Sata 2 SSD 60GB
Is is possible?
And how would I install a fresh copy of windows 8 on the SATA 3 SSD without buying windows 8 (no upgrade edition, I'm buying the one for windows.microsoft.com)?
- Thanks
I don't know whether you can do it with the driver you installed the OS on, but maybe you can use the new feature "Storage spaces" to combine the drives? The SSDs, that is.
Otherwise, I'd install Windows on the largest SSD, it'll be less of a pain with Steam and so on. Unless you install Windows on the 60GB and install Steam on the 128GB, that'd probably be the best solution. mklink /j can fix the rest.
Got Windows 8 in the mail today, clean installed it, everything is awesome.
Literally no complaints.
Can you post pics of the box? That box is so beautiful...

I wouldn't suggest putting the SSD's into a storage space, I'm not sure if the MS driver has TRIM support (and not to mention I don't think SS will even let you have the system drive on a space). As for the SSD providing a HDD boost, IIRC you can't do it with a separate SSD in software (except ones specifically designed for it), but something like the HDDBoost might be up your street

Sure, later today.
It does look really nice
Woah, Pro edition is only 229DKK? That's fucking great - my desktop is on Windows 7 professional, and I really doubted I'd get to upgrade for less than 500DKK, seeing as it is the new ultimate, pretty much.

Yeah, Microsoft is really trying to push this one, because of the Windows Store.
FUCKING FINALLY. I finished installing 8 2-3 hours ago, and for some reason every App in the start menu would show the icon briefly but then do nothing when I clicked on them. Turns out it was Avast! that was causing the issue, I uninstalled avast and it works great now. Looks like I'm switching to MSE.

MSE is included in windows 8 titled as windows defender
MSE is included in windows 8 titled as windows defender
Which is really confusing, because Windows Defender in previous versions was only anti malware, not antivirus, but now they've combined the two under that name for W8.

Alright, cool, makes things easier then!
it's certainly nice that windows is shipping with an antivirus for once

norton that comes with laptops doesn't count

One of the great things that happened because MS's antitrust suit expired.
I'm still in awe at how fast it installed. From the old vista-era installer to desktop it took 5 minutes. 5. Minutes. That's insane.
Windows 8 is just much more awesome out-of-the-box, in my opinion.
If with 7 I had to scramble to find the drivers online on my phone because I didn't have enough SATA cables for the [del]keyboard[/del]DVD drive, everything worked with 8 from the start.
So does anyone have a solution for my problem? I've posted on the Windows 8 forum but no reply..

Compare Vista's installer to XP's and it's not so bad :v:

most of the time I spent with my install was waiting for the dvd to load into memory and the initial setup after installation
Is there a way to get facebook notifications from Windows 8?
Like a notification for when I get a notification?
Didn't notice this yet, but Office 2013, Visio 2013, and Project 2013 have been added to MSDN in their final forms (not the preview anymore)
(all the links above will only work if you have a MSDN subscription silly, technet people need to check their respective download pages, and I've no idea if it's on Dreamspark)

for me it's taking a looong time. Almost an hour. But that's because I'm transferring everything.
Are there any download links for the x32 ISO's? My family laptop only has a 32 bit processor.

fucking hell where are the media center keys
I've been ignoring 8 for a while, is there still metro?
Yes, and it's great (to an extent)
I don't even care if I'm wrong, but I can't agree with that. It's too big, why does it have to fill the whole screen?
Why does it have to be tablet oriented? Why make everything so big that it takes forever to get to something else?
