I am going to unpin everything from my Taskbar now, try and force myself to use the Start Screen more. Here goes nothing?
There really is no need to. I use both the taskbar and the start screen. If you're in the desktop, why would you want to go back to the start screen and launch things from there? It shouldn't be about forcing yourself to use or not use something, it's about finding the most efficient ways to use your computer. [editline]28th October 2012[/editline] oh and, browsing windows 8 with a touchmouse is a beauty.
I'm really looking forward to the first sales numbers, I'd like to see how it'll compare to Windows 7's. I find the difference is that Windows 7 really landed on a bare spot, as Vista had a pretty bad reputation, while Windows 8 will have to prove itself better than Windows 7 (an already pretty good OS).
so does Windows 8 greatly prefer AHCI over IDE? My friend's PC is set to IDE and he said rebooting takes forever [editline]28th October 2012[/editline] he has an 7200rpm HDD
Windows 8 with classic shell is awesome. I like Metro but I just have more use for the Desktop.
I have a small problem. When I'm trying to listen to my music into the background, and go into, say, the start menu, or any other app where the music app is not pinned to the side of my screen, the music will drastically lower in volume. Any ideas on how to fix it, to make it so the volume stays the same even when the app is not necessarily running on my screen?
Has anyone of you noticed how Windows 8 adjusts the screen brightness according to how bright the image on the screen is? It's like a semi-dynamic contrast thing. Except it's pretty slow.
Some intel drivers do this
Probably installing Windows 8 on my desktop now.
Figured out the problem. Apparently steam does not like the music app.
Yea I know, but weren't sure since you can get W8 for 15$! So didn't think that far. Just buy it! You will feel great for owning a license for the first time ;)!
'Feeling great' for buying a windows key is the most hilarious thing I've heard in a long time I used to get by in Win7 by using the KVM period and reinstalling every 3 months for good practice.

So yes, it felt fucking great when I pressed purchase button for Windows 8. [editline]28th October 2012[/editline] Steam says I have 422 games. Mmmm.
is there a way to change the look of the scrollbar? it's a little too light for me, i have trouble finding it when trying to scroll :v:
You can try and find a good custom theme on DeviantArt. I seen this one posted here a little bit ago.
I am going to unpin everything from my Taskbar now, try and force myself to use the Start Screen more. Here goes nothing?
You don't have to do that to use the start menu more. The way I have mine set up is I have to go there for all the Windows stuff. Explorer, Windows' Tools/Utilities, etc.
Damn it, where can I get 800$ to buy a Surface and ship it to Russia? :(
Son, you're going to have to start sucking a lot of dicks.

So wait, no more developer preview? I was going to test Windows 8 via the ISO link in the OP so that I could show my mother what Windows 8 will be like (not to mention get to see it myself), but it takes me to a "buy it now" page. Is the preview over?

Is my key only valid for this computer?
Is my key only valid for this computer?
Says you can register up to 5 computers.
Well since Windows 8 is out...yes.
Oh shit, I'm slow as hell. Thanks for the update.

Sure does feel nice to support developers but feeling self satisfaction for giving a corporation like microsoft money is pretty funny to me. Not that I'm against buying windows or anything, but I still find it a tad funny.
Says you can register up to 5 computers.
not with a single key you can't.

Checked my MSDN account, I can get 8 pro for free. Still not 100% sure whether I actually want it though.
not with a single key you can't.
What do they mean with it then?
What do they mean with it then?
i'm assuming you saw the wording on the $15 upgrade page that said the promo code was only good for 5 copies
i'm assuming you saw the wording on the $15 upgrade page that said the promo code was only good for 5 copies
Oh, sorry. Thanks for correcting me.
