So this version of Windows 8 http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows/buy?ocid=GA8_O_WOL_DIS_Compare_FPP_Null I assume this is only the upgrade, or does it also support the full installation?
You must be running Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, but you have the option of doing a clean installation if you want. EDIT: Wow how did this page suddenly appear
It will do the full installation, upgrade requires you start the setup from a booted windows instance anyway. Just dump it onto a DVD/USB Flash drive and hit install.
You can do a fresh install from an upgrade anyway. At least I could. I could just boot into the DVD and say fuck everything.
False, you can install from Windows 8 to.
D'oh, I knew that, but I copied that right from the actual page.
So, i decided to buy win 8 for £15 (that promotion thing as i bought my laptop not long ago) and then though sod it install it. so before i headed to work i clicked the shortcut on the desktop to install it, let it do its thing, sorted out the things it wanted me to, then restarted my pc, then when i was at work i teamviewed my laptop and then hit install, expecting to maybe loose all mystuff / have it shoved in a .old folder but no! came home, chose my color and bam, everything had been installed / carried over so i did not need to install anything, not bad the one thing i hate though is when a program stops responding, it does not give you the option to wait, instead it decides to try and fix it and give up forcing you to close the application :/
wow! the music app totally blew my mind! Looks so slick and works really great! Did not expect that at all. Only thing that bugs me is that there is no volume controll in app. (?)
I just bought it for $15 (killer deal) and I'm wondering for those who did an upgrade over Windows 7, how was the process? I have a TON of stuff that I would really hate to re-download so I'm hoping the upgrade doesnt ruin the install of my DAW/VSTS.

I chose nothing but I still had all my old files in windows.old for some reason.

Just did a fallback a few days ago to Windows 7 since I was persuaded not to get the new Windows 8 (Was running the CP/RP before-hand). Give me some reasons that I should pay the £25 and upgrade.

Windows 7 is going to be obsolete sooner than Windows 8, there's your reason
You mean like the same fucking desktop and explorer that full Windows has? You realize that RT is the exact same as Windows 8 at its core (except it runs ARM obviously) so you have the same command line, the same control panel, the same file explorer...
It's explorer is locked to about five programs though which is a bit silly. [editline]30th October 2012[/editline]
Windows 7 is going to be obsolete sooner than Windows 8, there's your reason
XP was supported for 11 years, I've heard they extended it's end of life date.
You know its £15 with an easily obtained discount code?
I did this today; and I'm quite surprised as to how nice Windows 8 actually is. With Smart8 or similar anyway!
HP Elitebooks?
Jupp, one 2710P (left) and one 2730P. One thing i find very wierd is that the docking station for the 2730P doesn't work with it, but it works with the 2710P and both says that it is an unrecognized device in the device manager...
Just used the £15 code. Damn you, Facepunch.

£0 code for me - dreamspark premium cunts
£0 code for me - dreamspark premium cunts
MSDN master race
I honestly thought for a second this is some kind of plan they have. All the negative talk and now they want to make people think its awesome by letting people buy it for really cheap price.
So I used my dreamspark key on my laptop and now I want to upgrade my desktop, but I'd rather just do a fresh install with the DVD I already made. Is there a way I can use my $15 upgrade promotion code to just redeem my new registration key instead of running the "upgrade assistant"?
