I want one so badly... Want to get into win8 app development but just developing for desktop is kinda meh. Need a win8 tablet to test touch input. Too bad I'm a poor student and can't afford one.
Say, does windows 8 got a built in audio equalizer? Because i have a computer that doesn't have a built in soundcard, so it's running on windows 7's default audio driver.
Your computer DOESN'T have a built in soundcard? So which soundcard is the driver using?
Your computer DOESN'T have a built in soundcard? So which soundcard is the driver using?
it has an analog sound generator
It looks so weird in 4:3
If you think that looks wierd, you should've seen my old computer teacher running the RTM on a 15-year old CRT monitor.

I don't know how Microsoft expect to compete with iOS and Android when apps such as Angry Birds are priced at £3.50
Hey lookie what I found http://event.asus.com/Vivotab/Mobile_Dock/ The vivo tab is only $500 at micro center and now that I can get a free dock with it I might just buy one.
Okay, I'm thinking I'm convinced to buy Win8 seeing that I just discovered Start8, I have a few questions though: - Is it REALLY faster? Will it give me, say, an FPS boost in videogames? - Can I just use the upgrade function instead of a clean copy without trashing the system? (I know clean copies are better, I just can't be assed to do so atm)

Booting up is also much quicker than Windows 7. I reformatted my Windows 7 shortly before installing 8, so the performance isn't just from having a 'new' OS. 2) Upon installing Windows 8 you are given the choice to transfer all files and programs, transfer just personal files, or to delete everything.
Eh, fair enough, anything else that I need to be aware of before upgrading?
Not that I know of, haven't had any problems so far.
I don't know how Microsoft expect to compete with iOS and Android when apps such as Angry Birds are priced at £3.50
At least it's not the BlackBerry app world, where even the shittiest version of Tetris will sell for $5.
I decided to jump on the bandwagon and see what the fuss is about, plus they actually accepted my debit card, amazing. However, My upgrade assistant appears to be stuck on 0%, has anyone else experienced this?
heh, i showed my mom windows 8 on that splashtop app on her ipad, and she actually wants to use windows 8 on it now. so now i may be making a virtual machine which she'll use.

It's just so fast you can even play 3d games over it without issues.
i updated windows after upgrading from 7 to 8 and now my mouse and keyboard don't work. i even tried a ps/2 keyboard and it didn't work the time on the lock screen is correct so the PC isn't frozen, how do i get my mouse and keyboard to work again
I don't know how Microsoft expect to compete with iOS and Android when apps such as Angry Birds are priced at £3.50
I laughed out loud when I saw Fruit Ninja was $5. How can anyone even CONSIDER paying that much for a tablet game?
At the moment, I'm on the Release Preview version, to see if it is worth upgrading. Did any of you have trouble with the wifi dropping every now and then, but resolving itself again, or is it something conflicting in my system? For my wifi, I'm using a Hawking Dish (HWU8DD) with a Vista driver (the best I could find).
Did the "Making sure you're ready to install" page take an insanely long time for anyone else here? I've been sitting here for about 20 mins now.
Any 3ds Max users experiencing issues with W8 around this thread?

What do you guys think is a better idea? I'm going to buy a Vivo Tab RT sometime later this week after i receive my paycheck. There are two options, and transportation is not an issue for either of these since both B&M stores are relatively equidistant. Option 1: Micro Center has the Vivo Tab for $500 and you can get a free keyboard dock after mailing in a bunch of stuff. I would sell all my current tablets to help offset the cost. Keyboard wouldn't arrive for a month or two knowing Asian companies and promotions like these. Option 2: Staples has a trade-in program. I could buy the Vivo Tab RT and get the keyboard dock free for the price of $600, but I can get $150 back after trading in my HP Touchpad. The Xoom I own would give me $150 as well, but, like, it's a device I can easily sell for $300 with all the accessories I have. I get the keyboard immediately and I'm guaranteed at least $150 back, whereas I might not be able to sell my Xoom, Touchpad or iPod touch as quickly as I'd like to.
oh my god the new snip tool is fucking amazing it lets you do perfect window snips, yes! also secure boot: nvm it always had that snipping option
Alt+PrintScreen does perfect window snaps too, you know...
Hmmm, I wonder if these have two seperate Windows 8 keys? And I also assume the 32 bit ones have their own keys at the very least. Because if so, it would be awesome to install one to my desktop and one to the laptop. [editline]30th October 2012[/editline] It seems the 32 bit and 64 bit version each get a key. And if its like Win7, you can use either key on either version. Sweet.
I just downloaded a free student copy of Windows 8 from Dreamspark. Should I install it?
I'm listening to the iHeartRadio app. Is there a way to have the app hidden in the background and not have the audio volume drop?
