Personally, I would wait and see if Asus is going to make an Atom-based tablet.
There's the Vivo Tab Smart, but it's not a transformer-style tablet, which I want.
Found my first issue since I moved to 8. And its with OneNote 2010. Apparently, the ability to open Notebooks from Skydrive in 2010 has been entirely removed. Maybe its because of the built in OneNote app in Windows 8, but its a little irritating, since I much prefer having OneNote windowed if I'm reading an ebook or taking notes on the internet. Windows 7 Windows 8 Maybe I just forgot to enable a setting or something, but it seems weird that Microsoft would disable a feature of their Office products, just because there is a Metro app version. Mind you, I can CREATE a notebook on Skydrive (implying it is aware of Skydrive and is syncing) from OneNote 2010, but I can't open any existing ones.
Misread.
Misread.
Apparently not, because its just the file browser. [editline]31st October 2012[/editline] I'll check if there is an update for OneNote to fix this, just in case. But of course I have to download all the other updates. But oh well, if that's the only issue I have so far, its looking pretty good. [editline]31st October 2012[/editline] Found this after some Googling: http://blogs.office.com/b/microsoft-onenote/archive/2011/11/08/free-update-for-onenote-2010-improves-skydrive-and-sync-features.aspx Apparently opening Skydrive Notebooks was a feature added later in an update. So I probably jumped the gun a bit. Phew!
Any 3ds Max users experiencing issues with W8 around this thread?
windows 8 + 3ds 2012 and i'm not experiencing any of your issues ( or any issues at all actually )
I did an upgrade from windows 7 ultimate and can report that my DAWs (REAPER, Cubase) worked fine straight away and all my VSTs are in full working order.
You could try downloading the Office 2013 preview which is heavily SkyDrive oriented and see if that would help you out?
Nah, its all good. It turns out there was an update that I hadn't gotten yet which added that feature later on.
Seriously, everyone NEEDS to start using OneNote. I can take notes in my psychology class with my laptop and then every once in a while snap a picture with my WP of what's being shown in the screen and insert it automatically on my notes.
Snipped, I found out how to create an Oblytile to My Computer without errors. I can't wait until people start creating legit tiles that aren't just images copy pasted. I like the metro theme, so it just feels... wrong to defile the Metro with a badly cropped image for a game tile.
Is there any chance of them adding POP3 support for the mail app?

Quite handy.
Ever since I installed steam I seem to be getting BSOD's. First when attempting to install it, now it's installed and it just happened while i was surfing in Chrome. Says something about 'Driver less or equal'. I haven't installed any drivers, all done through windows update, worked fine that way with 7. [editline]31st October 2012[/editline] I'm told it's Avast, so I've removed it and seeing how it goes.
Installed SP3 for 3ds Max 2011 and it's working again like a charm. A shame that the SP3 actually introduces glitches instead of fixing them. :v:
I don't know much about your modeling software, but maybe going to the latest version aka 2012 may help?
Everything's running fine since I removed Avast, just waiting for them to fix it. Until then, Windows defender.
Installing win8 from dreamspark on my main PC now. Good thing I have more HDD's in it, than I'll ever use.
Is there any chance of them adding POP3 support for the mail app?

As of today [POP3 support] is only limited to those email domains [google, live and outlook] since these are directly connected to Microsoft. There are too many 3rd party domains out in the net. I guess this so far is acceptable [Adding other POP3 support] is a yes. Microsoft is definitely planning to be global on this but will take time. More functionalities will be applied on this Apps and even other areas to improve the functions. Perhaps future service packs will apply this

I don't know much about your modeling software, but maybe going to the latest version aka 2012 may help?
2012 has more bugs than features, even after Service Pack 2, and 2013 is nicer but it has a new plugin interface which breaks all of the existing ones. :v:
Can you do handwriting in OneNote?
I think so there is even handwriting to text recognition
So how painless is the "upgrade" option when installing. I've never used the upgrade options before, only clean installs. Will I need to reinstall things like programs ectect, or will everything keep as is?
Installing win8 from dreamspark on my main PC now. Good thing I have more HDD's in it, than I'll ever use.
Oh well now I have RTM on my main PC. Cool I guess.

I'm having issues with a lot of my games after upgrading from 7 to 8. Most of my games are crashing before launching, Skyrim, Chivalry, FIFA 13, Red Orchestra 2 etc. Anyone else having these problems?

You can pick up an Acer Iconia W500 for pretty cheap nowadays. Don't know if they're any good.
