Wasn't there someone on facepunch who made his own tablet from some old asus laptop? I wonder how Windows 8 runs on that.
How long is Windows 8 Pro likely to stay at £25?

Well I seem to be enjoying so far, just that my start8 jumplist things (mouse over arrow on right hand side of program, recent stuff flies out) aren't showing up. Annoying, but not quit w8 worthy
why not just disable all those bullshit programs and use the start screen
because its my choice okay jeez [editline]31st October 2012[/editline] also because it's faster to hit the start button, mouse over winscp, hit elpishost and have it connect
winkey type winscp enter [editline]31st October 2012[/editline] alternatively you could make a metro tile and have it do that
okay then i have to choose elpis host and hit go if start8 were working as intended open start menu activate winscp jump list hit elpishost connecting [editline]31st October 2012[/editline] you enjoy your metro i enjoy start8
So how painless is the "upgrade" option when installing. I've never used the upgrade options before, only clean installs. Will I need to reinstall things like programs ectect, or will everything keep as is?
I was really hesitant to run the Upgrade option rather then a clean install, but I'm so glad I did. I don't know what black magic Microsoft used, but my computer is running better with the upgrade option, then with a clean install of the Release Preview. (which may just mean that release preview sucked, but none the less, I've had zero issues what so ever.) And having all of you settings, and drivers still there is just awesome. They did a really good job with the upgrade option. With that said, if you aren't happy, you can do a clean re-install from the Windows 8 settings menu, which is awesome too.

Doing complete system wipes is going to be a breeze not having to look for an installation disc.

I found that out yesterday. I got a chance to play with a Windows 8 Tablet (Samsung Ativ PC) and a Windows RT tablet yesterday. The Ativ had an Intel Atom processor and it sucked. Horribly. I don't understand why people seem to think the new Atom processors are better...they're not. Just switching from control panel to system properties took a good 5 seconds and lagilly transitioned. What I found interesting about the RT tablet was that under system properties it says "32-bit operating system, ARM Processor". I guess it's still technically a 32-bit operating system?

You still need the disk, it still moves everything into Windows.old
I have an office 2010 key, is there anyway to trade it in for a 2013 key? I'm switching to w8 soon
give it to me and ill see what i can do
I have an office 2010 key, is there anyway to trade it in for a 2013 key? I'm switching to w8 soon
If somebody has a Office 2013 key why would they want a 2010 key.
I know but I bought office 2010 which is a 3 computer access code then all of a sudden office 2013 beta comes out and it was really good.
Speaking of Office 2013, is there a date for official release yet?
Office 2013 looks really nice, and I love the SkyDrive integration, but it seems to have a memory leak or something. It gets really slow if I leave Word 2013 running for a while.

im having problems with segoe ui and japanese characters really sucks
I like it so far.
how big is w8, 3gb like before?
I'm having a problem now though. I've been trying to put Skyrim back on my HDD, and its taking longer than it should. It's moving at ZERO bytes.
how big is w8, 3gb like before?
I would say its the same as Win7. So yes.
Well i have got all the drivers up to date. MY laptop is working flawlessly. Ive even gotten used to metro. Overall im loving windows 8 although going to wait until December to put onto my gaming comptuer as i want the drivers to mature a bit first
Those of you that got the surface (and preferably had an adroid tablet before) how are you liking it? Is it worse/same/better than a jellybean tablet?
