I'm really amazed at how fast Windows 8 is. I installed it on a five year old acer notebook (aspire one) and it's running really fast and smooth. I have one problem though. Because it's a notebook it has a rather small screen and thus a low resolution. APPARENTLY you can't load certain apps if you have a too low resolution. I can't open Store or Camera for example. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/t23dd.jpg[/img_thumb] It's really fucking me off because I really want to see what the store has and such. edit. actually, i can't open ANY apps. same thing.

What resolution is it? Must be pretty darn low.
What resolution is it? Must be pretty darn low.
1024 x 600 lol
1024 x 600 lol
Netbook resolution :/ Minimum is 1024x768 iirc.

Here's a recent tip I've gotten. Use autoruns over every other startup/service manager. Using this sped up my boot time by a few seconds... it was always slow finally logging in until I used this.
Anyone else having issues adding their own programs to startup? I can't seem to get RealTemp to work on startup.
OblyTile
This VB program is literally the most hacked together and shitty way of doing it. It's terrible, but it works I guess.
Do we have a list of custom tiles yet? Also, so far I'm really impressed with Win8. It took a while to get used to and not be frustrated with certain changes, but right now it feels very smooth and fast; especially considering the PC I'm using atm.
How can I reset my KMS server? [editline]2nd November 2012[/editline] To the default Windows one I mean.
Two things, is there: an option to drag the view of Metro UI using a mouse instead of having to scroll it? an option to display the time to the right of the "Start" title? I want to eliminate the hassle of having to move your mouse to a corner to show the clock & date.
oh crap i realized the song changed right before i took the screenshot
Unicode font corrupted, that's a problem also known in Windows 7. If rampageturke2's method doesn't work then go to Start Screen and type "Region". The Region page will appear. Click the Administrative tab. Select Japanese as the language for non-Unicode programs. Restart. After that you can turn it back to English and unicode characters should work again.

See what's funny is at Micro Center they had the Vivo and the new iPad side by side and the Vivo was much more consistently smooth
Anybody using Win8 on one of those old touch-smart computers?
8 seems to have some weird permission settings. I moved Steam to my second hard drive because the one Windows is installed on is kind of small, but Steam is denied write access to it now.

I don't know anything about folder permissions.

So if I get the 90-day trial, will it revert back to Windows 7 or will I have to to a fresh reformat. [editline]1st November 2012[/editline] I'm not good with computers.
