I was something with at least an i3, I mean, that's not much to ask for of a laptop, why should it be for a tablet?
Because a tablet has wildly different power consumption needs? Ridiculously smaller battery and passive cooling only?
I was something with at least an i3, I mean, that's not much to ask for of a laptop, why should it be for a tablet?
because 3 minute battery life is not a good selling point
Does anyone else have trouble with Firefox + Flash sites (such as youtube)? FF becomes unresponsive for a good 20 seconds or so when I try to load a video, sometimes.
I don't like that people want such serious hardware in a tablet. It will never fully replace a laptop if you need an i-series processor in a tablet, and then the whole point of a tablet will be ruined by the i-series.
Newer Atoms that should be in the Windows 8 tablets have ARM like features, like the ability to pull down email updates and notifications while in sleep mode. As far as I know, they're pretty different from the shitty netbook Atom CPUs that we've probably dealt with, though Intel decided to keep the name for some reason. Though this is going off my sketchy memory of an episode of This Week in Computer Hardware that I listened to while mowing my mother's lawn... Either way, an Atom is probably going to be comparable to a high end ARM CPU, though you maintain the backwards compatibility and a more useful desktop.
I'm just hoping for AMD vision powered tablets.
Haha, they fixed the 15$ purchase unless you have a legit Windows 7 key.
I'm just hoping for AMD vision powered tablets.
I certainly love my vision powered laptop. Powerful, inexpensive and great battery life.
I'd like to have a tablet with an i5 ULV, if ASUS can do it with the UJ36 and get pretty damn decent battery life, they can do a tablet as well.
Thought I'd make a tray helper for the music app to make it a bit more bearable for myself. Click on it to play/pause etc. You may or may not find this useful.
lol who actually uses the new apps winamp for life
The inbuilt music player is definitely terrible. I don't see any use for it even on a tablet.
lol who actually uses the new apps winamp for life
I've used Zune for ages but thought I'd try out the new app as my main player and christ it's horrible but hey why not
I actually find it OK. I only have one gripe against it: No gapless playback.
multitasking on my tablet has got me very spoiled i keep trying to emulate gestures with my mouse on my desktop and it just isn't working :c
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/touch-mouse ?
What's the difference between that one and this one? Besides the $30
but then gaming is to suck i like my g500 perfectly fine [editline]3rd November 2012[/editline]
What's the difference between that one and this one? Besides the $30
gestures
because 3 minute battery life is not a good selling point
Not true, the Samsung Ativ Pro with an i5 (which i'm looking at getting) gets 8 hours of battery life. Granted that's more like 5 realistically, but for a fully featured tablet that's not bad.

samsung tablets have literally the worst build quality out of any name-brand manufacturer if you sneeze on them they will flex like crazy
Alright, I've been trying to install windows 8 and I get a "Windows install failed" error. So I tried installing via USB and I get an error along the lines of: edit: got the full error: The computer started using the Windows installation media. Remove the installation media and restart your computer so that Windows starts normally. Then, insert the installation media and restart the upgrade. (do not select custom advanced!) to perform an upgrade. (Custom advanced) installs a new copy of windows and deletes your programs and settings. and i looked at the setuperr.txt file and i get this: Error CONX [WINDLP] CDlpManager::Initialize(277): Result = 0x80070490[gle=0x00000002]
My mom got a surface! The thing is incredible! Touch cover actually works! I can see it taking over the use of her PC. Using hers is all the confirmation I needed before getting one myself. I just need to sort out the money...
Wait for the Pro, IT WOULD BE WORTH IT
I'd argue just get the UJ36 if you want an i5 in an ultra portable package.
The UJ36 (and the other models that looks practically the same, but have different names) is a very nice budget computer, but the screen isn't very good. I might go for a convertible, but I'd like to get in on the touch screen goodness - it's not really about it necessarily being better than the other stuff, but I'd like to try some new stuff out. Anyway, you can get tablets that use Sandy Bridge i5s, with battery life around the 5.5 hours mark. The ones you can get right now are pretty expensive, though, that's the most off-putting thing.
Wait for the Pro, IT WOULD BE WORTH IT
I have literally no need. I've already got a super powerful desktop for gaming, programming and that sort of thing. I want a cosy little tablet so that I can lounge around at home as well as take out and about, rather than sitting up in front of a desktop even for little things like browsing the web. For me, at least, the pro would be a waste of money since it'll probably cost way more.
can someone post the link to the updater download thing again? [editline]4th November 2012[/editline] and does the 15 dollar offer still work? A friend of mine said it doesn't work if you didn't really buy a pc within two months, but I have no clue how they would differentiate
