I think there's an issue with mouse animation. Specifically, a black box sometimes appears for a single frame when the pointer switches from normal mode to the handy-pointy-clicky thing.

If I'm upgrading from Windows 7 Ultimate, should I get Standard or Pro?
Anyone mind answering this?
pro
Anyone mind answering this?
Definitely Pro.
pro
what's the difference between normal and pro?
what's the difference between normal and pro?
nothing average people care about
mostly the ability to join a domain, virtualization options, fully fledged remote desktop
And the word "pro".
the biggest thing you'd probably care about if you're just an end user is that media center is only available through pro
And the fact that the Pro Upgrade is available for $40* until January 31, 2013 (there's no cheaper upgrade for standard)
*Download-only. In-store offer is $70.
yeah i mean right now you should just get pro anyway because it's the same price
but afterwards don't bother

oh and there's that
I'm gonna create my own Enterprise so I can purchase the Enterprise edition so I can install Windows on the go wherever I go, I will be so fucking popular.
Like, this lamppost needs Windows 8, BOOM! People will go yay when the lampposts can play music and use every colour of the raninbow.
so how come my 2nd HDD with all my pics and videos and music and stuff always has like ~16% disc activity for like 20 minutes after booting into Windows? Like I hear my HDD constantly doing noise and all this shit because of it and it's annoying as fuck

Check exactly whats writing to it in Resource Monitor?
Maybe it's indexing or some shit
Usually is indexing. I remember when I went from Windows XP to Vista. In Windows XP I hardly ever heard my hard drive and the light only flickered now and then. In Windows Vista it felt like the hard drive was constantly trying to load something, I could always hear it and the light was flickering like crazy. After researching lots I found that 2 services were causing it, Superfetch and Windows Search Indexing

so after time it stops indexing as much? Cause my old Windows 7 install I don't remember this, but it was an old install that existed for a while, it probably indexed stuff by then
resource monitor listed all my drives contents, like D:\pictures and whatnot. My pagefile is also there.
Intel just pushed an update for Intel HD first generation over Windows Update. It supports OpenGL and Minecraft.
What would you guys say, surface RT or Pro
I don't really do much if I'm using a tablet, example the iPad, I just use the internet and use a few apps, if it was mine I'd put music and some video on it.
Are the apps good enough as well?
Just need some guidance.

How good is the battery life?
[editline]7th November 2012[/editline]
Is the camera good?
SmartGlass is a pretty neat app... even if you're not on a tablet or smartphone.
The most I see putting it to use is for typing messages.
A crappy camera... but just to show: [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/RYMdQ.jpg[/IMG_thumb]
Reaction time using it as a "controller" is a bit slow.

I'd say RT.
If you want to use it like a laptop, just get a real laptop.
I was thinking of productive stuff but I got my big computer to do that, this would be nice instead of using my school laptop
If possible I would like a quick answer to this as I'm about to finish work to go buy some stuff.
I was thinking of getting a retail copy of Windows 8 Pro.
I have release preview on my computer at the moment, can I use the pro pack to upgrade that or do I need the full copy?
Thanks.

I'm still holding out for GMA 4500MHD support, I really enjoy getting a BSOD after playing Minecraft for a few minutes with the modified Windows 7 drivers...
Ugh, I've encountered a lot of bugs with the music app.
First of all, the backgrounds for all my songs are now daft punk for some reason. Next, the music app and skype mute, or go extremely soft, when I alt tab to desktop. This can be fixed however, by opening music app, quitting steam (because steam is apparently the problem), restart music app, then restart steam.

i think you can get the 40$ upgrade from windows 8 betas
Quick question!
If you install Windows 8 using an ISO while you are on Windows 7, will I be given the option to do a clean install (reformat primary hdd, install from ISO)? Or will it not be totally fresh?
[editline]7th November 2012[/editline]
or in order to a complete fresh install do I have to install from another drive/device?
[editline]7th November 2012[/editline]
nevermind I just installed it using my usb flash drive and formatted so whatever

If you just want to use the internet, a few apps, music, and video get a cheaper Android tablet.
edit:
never mind then
i just think spending £400 on such a big tablet for internet browsing is a waste of money if you have a decent computer also
