I'd rather avoid RT. Are there any laptops worth looking at? I'd rather something with a pen touchscreen that can do handwriting recognition.
Wait for the surface pro.
I would say the Samsung Ativ PC at this point, but I wouldn't give a Samsung tablet to my worst enemy, and Christ is it expensive. The market's really so infantile right now, there's no "must-have" PCs. I would really wait if I were you. I'm actually writing this post from my Vivo Tab, but RT is fine for me since all I need is a portable web browser, and I love it. But there's also the iPad and Android tablets to compete in that space so RT's not something someone should want to jump on immediately.
So I was determined to get a Surface. I have the money, I went into the MS store only to find out they don't ship to P.O. Boxes. If they don't ship to P.O. Boxes there's no way I could have one shipped here to Panama. HUGE-FUCKING-SHAME.
Wait for the surface pro.
I thought those were going to go for twice the price of the RT surface
Is someone using windows 8 with an asus crosshair iv formula? My windows 8 randomly decided to disable all usb ports so i had to restart everytime. How to fix? (There are no drivers for win8)
I thought those were going to go for twice the price of the RT surface
it has the pen included with it and you can download (or purchase) a third-party program that can do handwriting recognition and install it, no hassle.

It's easy to pin steam games anyways. Just search for them and right-click > pin to start.
I would say the Samsung Ativ PC at this point, but I wouldn't give a Samsung tablet to my worst enemy, and Christ is it expensive.
Not only is it expensive, it's a piece of shit. I returned the first one and the replacement they gave me. The pen didn't work on half the screen on both of them, the keyboard dock was defective on the second one, and it was top heavy as shit. Not to mention you breathed on it and it scratched. Fuck Samsung. I lost all faith in their products after that.
I mean their tvs and fridges are chill as fuck
I mean their tvs and fridges are chill as fuck
They also made TVs and appliances way before they made phones and tablets
FYI Samsung is the biggest electronics company so their reach goes well beyond phones and appliances :v:
I mean their tvs and fridges are chill as fuck
I hope their fridges are chill. Would be pretty sad if they weren't.
They also made TVs and appliances way before they made phones and tablets
apple comes in, makes the iFridge, patents handles on the doors of fridges, we're doomed.
Anyone know how to change the way Windows handles start screen scaling? On my desktop 1920x1080 monitor I get 6 rows of icons, while on my 15.6" 1920x1080 laptop, I only get 5. The DPI setting is set to normal on both.
[editline]23rd November 2012[/editline] i won't re-quote it if i don't get a reply again
apple comes in, makes the iFridge, patents handles on the doors of fridges, we're doomed.
You kidding? Apple wouldn't have handles on their fridges. They'd have a card slot, and you'd have to pay to open them.

I just got my first windows 8 "BSOD", "Memory_Managment", As fun as that smiley face was I was right in the middle of something important. Luckily Ctrl-S is something I press at almost every step.

Black Friday got me a 120gb ssd (555MB/s read 510MB/s write) for $60 (this one, was an additional $20 off in store) and then I put windows 8 on it for another $40. If I had the choice to go back to windows 7 I wouldn't. Windows 8 really impresses me with how user friendly and beautiful it is. Every aspect of the OS has been improved on and I'm very satisfied with my switch. The only problem I had was that my product key wouldn't activate windows after I installed it so I had to be on the phone with customer service for an hour but they got it working for me. For $40 this is the cheapest os I've paid for but also the best.
Found my first real big problem with windows 8; Seems like Battlefield 3 just don't want to work.. Crashes after about a minute ingame.. Can't be exactly sure it's Win 8, but it certanly feels like it.

It'll start on the Computer screen.

[t]http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/getfile/12874/[/t] How can you remove this? On my Screen it Looks like this: Windows 8 Pro Windows 7 / Windows Server 2010
It's possible in Windows without any additional apps iirc, msconfig should do the trick.
