$900 for 64gb, $1000 for 128
The Macbook air is $1099 for the 11" 128GB version (and many ultrabooks are in the same league) - I think $1000 is very fair for the Surface, really. Especially with the 1080p touchscreen.

To use it as an laptop replacement yea. To use it like a tablet is supposed to be used no.
I still think that a 1080p 10 inch screen is just tiny. They aren't going to DPI scale desktop apps. Reading text and stuff is going to be terrible too unless you have 20/20 vision or corrective lenses.

You can set the desktop to a DPI of 192 which should make it easy to see.
Nexus 7 costs 199$ in US, and in Switzerland its about 270$ :v:
Also, we are not in the EU, wich does AFAIK increase the price a bit more.
16 GB Nexus 7 = 338$ in Denmark
And even that is from some site I wouldn't excactly buy from... so add between 20-40$ extra
You can set the desktop to a DPI of 192 which should make it easy to see.
You shouldn't have to set the DPI of a tablet. Full blown Windows is not a tablet OS. The only thing that works on tablets is Metro.

I can't really imagine the desktop being useful on a tablet anyway so I doubt it really matters. There were all sorts of videos of people trying to use Office and desktop apps on Surfaces that Microsoft let reviewers play with and the general consensus is that it's shit to use. Probably why no one was bothered with Windows 7 based tablets when they came out.

But then it has to be asked, why would you get the Surface Pro over the plain old Surface if that's the case?
I just don't see the Pro selling well.

That's the question I've been asking since it was announced. I see no point in the Surface Pro, it just seems gimmicky and rather shit for the price.

Both the regular Surface and the Surface Pro apply to that. Neither are competitively priced, and Microsoft as usual is late to the game.
That being said, I still like my vivo tab :v:
I think that, compared to similar products on the market (Intel Ultrabooks, Macbook Air, etc), the Surface Pro is very competitively priced for a Top-Shelf Tablet/Laptop combo.

It can't compare to tablets and it can't compare to laptops though. That's my problem with it. Want an ultraportable? Get an ultrabook. Want a tablet? Get an iPad. Its OS being horridly confused as to if it wants to be a tablet or desktop OS doesn't help.

Same in Norway and Sweden :(
At least we are 3 :D

Photoshop. Artists can use it as a portable Wacom Cintiq. That's about the only use I can see for it.

The Surface Pro models will come in two flavors, with a 64GB model running $899 and a 128GB model running $999. Both Surface Pro models will include a Surface Pen and the ability to use a touch Cover or Type Cover, though those are sold separately.
The Pro versions of the Surface feature some differences from the already released Surface RT models:
Intel Core i5 processor.
10.6” 16:9 ClearType display that runs at a 1920×1080 full HD resolution.
A full-size USB 3.0 port.
Mini DisplayPort that can drive an external display up to 2560X1440 resolution.
Pen input with Palm Block technology.
The Surface Pro models are slightly heavier than the Surface with Windows RT, they also feature 4GB of RAM vs 2GB. The display is higher resolution as well, clocking in at 1920×1080 with a 10-point multi-touch-capable sensor vs the RT’s 1366×768 screen with 5-point multi-touch.
The processor difference is obviously the biggest change. An i5 Intel processor with Intel HD Graphics 4000 vs. the RT’s Nvidia Tegra 3 chip.
Here is the full spec comparison:
yea but we earn a lot more than everyone else
I've started noticing this on my desktop.
When I turn it off, everything goes fine. Keyboard lights turn off, monitor goes into sleep mode, the works.
Except for one thing. My PC hardware is 'working' for a second or 3 before it actually turns off. Anyone else having this?
Isn't that normal? My desktop has always done that. The screen goes off, but the fans are whirring for another 3 seconds until it actually goes off

I wonder what the response time is from the screen, if i remember Microsoft once announced some sort of technology which leaves near 0 ms respond time.

This better be in the Surface...
That's wishful thinking. Mostly because that specific example doesn't have a huge OS overhead on top of having to handle touch input.
In the future maybe, but not now.
Well I'm a strong advocate against the likes of the Surface Pro. It shouldn't be considered a tablet. It's an ultrabook, and not a very thin or graceful one at that. (It has a fan for Christ's sake)
Believe me when I say gaming on a 10 inch tablet is a goddamn nightmare too. I own 3 different 10 inch tablets. Gaming is terrible on every single one.
Sounds like you want something more like the Nexus 7 or iPad mini though.
Would you recommend an iPad mini to anyone?
Would you recommend an iPad mini to anyone?
Only if you don't mind having a non-retina display. I've heard if you're used to the huge pixel density, the iPad mini's a bit staggering.
Would you recommend an iPad mini to anyone?
iPad Mini is really for more minimal use like browsing the web, checking mail and perhaps watch some stuff on it. If you really want head-on everything with a lot of power you would go for the bigger guys.
A girlfriend of mine has one and its perfect for her and she had no problems with it (Which is surprising since she used Android for like 3 years)
Only downside was indeed that there is no Retina Display but that would not really take away that it is a good purchase if you are looking for a tablet to do web browsing and stuff

Is it just me or Steam is performing like a huge piece of shit on Windows 8? It always crashes, freezes constantly and messes with my music playback's volume.

Just you, except for the volume issue. Right click the volume icon, click playback devices, go to the communication tab (or whatever, the last one on the right) and click the "do nothing" option.
