Blegh. It's a pity that tablet is so fat, and the writing plastered on the side ruins it for me. I'd also never touch the dock. It kinda sucks as a tablet and a laptop, but hey, at least the battery life is great, and the W8 tablet market is only gonna get better!

I'm not really onto the tablet as a whole, but that battery reading definitely tells me that we're going to get some seriously nice devices down the line. The fact that it lasts as long as many ARM tablets is just damn impressive.
It'll be nice to see what we're looking at in terms of tablets in December 2013. It's a pity we'll all be dead in a week though.
I know all that. What i want to know is how to make it work with the hybrid ssd/hdd.
If that really is a single hybrid drive, then you don't have to do anything, the drive's hardware will automatically cache hot data on the flash and less used data on the drive. However, it doesn't looks like that's the case here, it looks more like you have a 320GB (298GB in windows) hard drive and a ~20GB SSD. When you begin the install and Windows asks you where you want to install, you can just delete all the partitions on all drives and install to the 20GB drive, then just use the 300GB one as mass storage. I'm not sure that's what's going on here though, you might want to use a benchmark program like HDTune on each drive to see if that 20GB drive is SSD fast (>150 MB/s, <1ms access time) and the bigger one is slower (regular HDD), or if the bigger one is fast too (in which case it really is a hybrid hardware drive.)
Hey guys, i need help. I want to set up so i can run remote x86 apps on my surface, like described here http://forums.wpcentral.com/surface-windows-rt/207435-run-remote-x86-apps-your-surface-amazing.html
But to do this i need to have Windows 8 enterprise, and i only have pro, how do i upgrade? And also does anyone have any experience with this, it seems pretty darn cool.

I have that too when copying/unzipping/whatevering the Android SDK. Tons of tiny little files.

Ahh.
btw, Gratz with 2k posts :)
So I finally installed 8 onto my computer.
Versus Vista, it's a huge upgrade, it runs waay faster and so far I haven't had any windows explorer crashes. I suppose 7 is better, but I'll stick with 8 until I get save enough money for a new PC (I'm still using my 2007 computer for the given moment.)

7 isn't better
[editline]16th December 2012[/editline]
in my opinion
honestly the only reason to use 7 is because you don't like metro
keep 8

I got roughly 6 or 7 hours with my Samsung Ativ Pro. I don't understand why people think that's bad considering what kind of power these tablets have. You're essentially buying a very small laptop with a touchscreen...you can't expect miracles.

6 or 7 hours doing what though?
6 or 7 hours doing what though?
watching porn.
on the internet.
over wlan.
6 or 7 hours doing what though?
Taking notes in OneNote, reading e-textbooks, and browsing the web. I guess that's not too terribly demanding.
Ain't shit compared to my 2 full days at school browsing the web and taking notes. That was like 8 hours a day too.
Then again, my tablet is also ARM and an Asus Transformer, which are known for insane battery life :v:

I find 6-7 hours to be completely reasonable, it's just that all these guys are putting the convertibles in the same category as ARM tablet, so of course they're gonna lose. Compare them to ultrabooks instead, they'll compare fine there.
Wow, just realize that in about 3 weeks, it will be January, and the Surface Pro will soon follow.
also it'll be my birthday, which means more money for buying a surface
meh sucks to have to import it.
gonna be expensive as fuck
Preparing to switch over to Win 8 either tomorrow or later on this week, any thing I should know in advance? Does display fusion work well with Win 8 or not?
Preparing to switch over to Win 8 either tomorrow or later on this week, any thing I should know in advance? Does display fusion work well with Win 8 or not?
You don't need it. Windows 8 natively supports multimonitor functions
Windows 8 and multiple monitors work together VERY well.
Except for metro. No side-by-side metro apps.. :c

Never really wanted to do that anyway.

One thing that bothers me, if you open a desktop application or focus the desktop the start screen closes but an app will stay on screen. I'd prefer it if I could have the start screen open on my other monitor so I can see the live tiles at all times.

Live tiles are kind of a novelty for me. They are cool when I first log in, or open the start screen, but they don't really offer me anything that I would like to see update in real time.
